Abstract
The idea of total quality management practices at the educational institutions of Pakistan, especially at the colleges is relatively a new concept and it is in its initial stages. The theoretical framework of this study was to know global perspective of total quality management and its implications on public boy's colleges of Lahore, based upon the instrument that measured the extent of four dimensions of total quality management implications such as educational leadership, employee involvement, system of getting feedback and continuous quality improvement. The research instrument developed and used in this study was a questionnaire having five points liker type rating scale (1-strongly agree through 5-strongly disagree). The questionnaire was developed on the basis of literature and the guidance of the research supervisor. Twenty items were included regarding the four aspects of total quality management. The items of the questionnaire were improved in the light of pilot study and the suggestions of experts. The sample of the study was 225 faculty members from all fifteen public boys' colleges of Lahore. Sample was selected conveniently and researcher collected data personally. The collected data through the instrument were tabulated, presented and analyzed in the percentage form by means of different tables. It revealed that the most of the principals showed a lot of initiative, competence and had long term strategic plan. Teachers were not involved in decision making. The system of getting feedback from customers (students and parents) did not exist. There was need to empower teachers, develop a system to get feedback from customers and to provide more sophisticated infrastructure.
