dc.description.abstractThe study was conducted to investigate effects of teachers' behavior on motivation of students enrolled in different secondary schools of Lahore. Five private schools of Lahore, Lahore Grammar School (LGS), Beacon house School System (BSS), Lahore College of Arts & Sciences (LACAS), Musab School System (MSS), and Bloomfield Hall School (BHS) were conveniently selected for the study. A questionnaire was developed to measure effect of behaviors of teachers on motivation of students and administered to 400 students from the sample schools. Data were analyzed with the help of descriptive and inferential statistics. It was evident in the research that most effective teachers' behaviors to improve student motivation were: calling students by name; making subjects interesting; rewarding students; equity in treatment; supportive classroom environment; clear instruction; instant feedback; fostering engagements and triggering interest. Furthermore, gender, age, and class of the students were significantly related with their perceptions about effect of teachers' behaviors on their motivation. The study has identified behavior of teachers which triggered students' motivation and thus identified a direction for school managers, leaders and teacher educators to develop these behaviors both in pre-service and in-service training of existing and prospective teachers.en_US
