| dc.description.abstract | The current exploratory study investigates the Teachers‟ Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Skills and Integration in Hearing Impairment at Secondary Level. The introduction of information and communication technologies (ICT) into special education has been a major priority in higher secondary school. The study involved the collection of Quantitative data, which include special education teachers‟ personal information, their frequently of using computers, perceptions of their ICT skills and self-efficiency toward ICT in teaching. Quantitative research design was adopted by the researchers for the study where the teachers of special government Secondary institutes were considered as population. The latest educational policy of the Government of Pakistan has stressed on using ICT in special education institutes. The curriculum documents have also suggested teachers to integration ICT in their classrooms teaching and learning processes. The study finds that teachers have access to computers in schools and at home and they use computer for different purposes, such as, entertainment, communication, and education. There have special government secondary institutes and the size of the population is almost 200 special education teachers. This study is quantitative, and the type of research is descriptive. Embedded in the quantitative paradigm, Survey research was used to explore research question. The study adopts a quantitative technique and subsequently, questionnaires were disseminated to the teachers. In order to get the essential information of the research, questionnaire method has been used. Primary data are collected by the researcher through Self-Administrative Questionnaire from the teachers. Most of the special education teachers strongly agreed that ICTs are essential for enhancing the process of teaching-learning in the special education institutions. The focus of this paper is on effectiveness of ICT integration in special education for Hearing impaired children. More specifically, this paper aims at identifying the level of computer skills and knowledge of secondary school teachers in the teaching and learning process. Moreover, the objective of this paper is to identify the level of ICT integration in teaching and learning process in classroom by secondary school teachers of special education for Hearing Impaired children. | |
