| dc.description.abstract | Airships were the very first medium of traveling through the air for humans. It was a unique and jaw-dropping invention in its era and it became very successful and popular among the people as it was the only available opportunity to fly high in the sky and to cover longer distances in lesser time as compared to all other available means of transportation. The idea of flying mechanisms consisting of a combination of bright and magical textiles made fantasy airships a thing for me and I’ve always wanted to grab myself an opportunity to work on the infusion of fantasy airships with a vintage vibe. Over time I have gathered a lot of inspiration on this theme through fantasy novels and science fiction which I would like to accumulate. This project is expected to dig into the craft of airships and hot air and their elements. The focus in design will be on the 19th to 20th century. Textile prints will be developed by using the motif and ornamental extraction of this theme. All different textile techniques that I have been taught during my degree program shall be depicted through my work. The final display shall include the documentation of the step-by-step procedure of design development as well as the four main products which will be from the home category of textiles. | |
