Abstract
This study is aimed to evaluate and compare the 7'^ grade English language textbooks of Punjab and Federal textbook boards of Pakistan both quantitatively and qualitatively. Since the Government claims that is taking remarkable steps in upgrading and developing the syllabi, it is required to analyze the extent to which these steps are taken in the right direction. English plays a significant role to get in touch with the outer world of advancement and technology. A global appraisal of the English textbooks is consequently the need of the day since in Pakistan they are the only source of learning the language during the academic years of majority of students especially in public schools. For this purpose, the study not only uses the text/ material enclosed in the textbooks but also the perception of the teachers who teach English to 7^'' grade in Punjab and federal public schools. This enabled the researcher to explore the minds of the teacher to know what exactly they know about English language and its teaching. Tl^e study comprises of fiy^liapters.
