    Implementation of total productive maintenance methodology in vehicle maintenance workshop of Lahore waste management company

    God helps those who help themselves is a well acknowledged saying refers to the vitality and importance for the hunt of improvement, flawlessness and perfection. This maxim doesn't just imply to the human beings but could be substituted within every disciple line of life. Similarly organizations all over the world are working on the principle of accomplishing incremental success, for which continuous improvement is a fundamental tool. The survival of organizations depends on their ability to rapidly innovate and improve. As a result, an increasing search is on for methods and processes that drive improvements in quality, costs and productivity. In today's fast changing marketplace, slow, steady improvements in processes and operations will not guarantee profitability or survival. Companies must improve at a faster rate than their competition if they are to become or remain leaders. Western products, practices and methods were believed to be unsurpassed throughout the world for a long period of time. This opinion is constantly changing because of new competition and economic pressures. For example, the Japanese now own the consumer electronics industry. Changes in the automotive industry are well documented, and for the first time Western dominated industry such as computers and aviation are facing serious challenges by foreign competitors. Other companies and cultures have proven they can compete successfully in the world marketplace with western manufacturing. To confront this challenge, enlightened organization leaders are benchmarking their organizations‟ performance and improvement processes against domestic and international competitors. They are adopting and adapting best in class manufacturing practices and improvement processes. As part of these benchmarking efforts Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) has been identified as a best in class manufacturing improvement process. Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), a public sector company, was developed to deal with lack of technical capabilities and modern facilities that Solid Waste Management could not deliver. LWMC is utilizing its capabilities in a scientific way to modernize and improve the solid waste management practices by providing the citizens of Lahore with special waste collection services for a better way of waste disposal. In order to plan, implement and manage different programs for improvement of Solid Waste Mana gement System of the city it has become indispensible for this organization to work efficiently and effectively. LWMC has embodied a complete organization having many functional departments playing their respective role. This report contains an improvement plan for one of the department of this organization i.e. Vehicle Maintenance workshop. A large fleet of vehicles are performing their duties for waste disposal throughout the city to keep it clean and tidy. An effective management and maintenance plan ensures the proper utilization of these vehicles to achieve the objective of the company.

    The ergonomic study in an assembling industry

    This project presents the study of the ergonomics in the industrial company. The factory has manufacturing and assembling departments which have the most complicated hand movements for the workers to complete their job. The body structure and overall movement of the worker in the factory environment is observed. By using the qualitative and analytical methods the movements are to be optimized and minimized by using the most economical solutions possible. The study will relief the workers from stress and high motivation level will result in increased productivity for the factory. The workers will be brainstormed about the advantages of healthy movements in the human muscular system. The advantage of the worker will be assured before conducting this study as the involvement of the worker in the improvement process will be the essence of the study. The work study and time calculations will be re-checked before arriving to a conclusion.
