Item Cyber victimization, self-silencing and interpersonal dependence in emerging adults(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Maheen ShahidThe current study aimed at knowing the relationships between cyber victimization, self silencing and interpersonal dependence in emerging adults. A total of 402 college and university students voluntarily participated (men=204 and women=198) with the age range of 17-25 (M=19.2 years). The data were taken from using demographic sheet, cyber victimization scale, self-silencing scale scale and interpersonal dependence scale. The purposive sampling strategy is used to gather data in order to determine results. The results showed that cyber victimization correlates with a significant positive relationship with interpersonal dependence. Other than that, the self-silencing has significant positive correlation with interpersonal dependence. On the contrary, self-silencing has a non significant negative association with cyber victimization Moreover, it was seen that men are more prone to cyber victimization and as compare to women having more self-silencing and interpersonal dependence. Other than that, graduate students have more scores of cyber victimization, self-silencing and mental health problems in contrast to intermediate students. Furthermore, early emerging adults have higher levels of self-silencing whereas, late emerging adults has greater level of interpersonal dependence than middle and early emerging adults. In addition, gender, education and age levels, cyber-victimization and self silencing are found to be significant positive predictors of interpersonal dependence. The prominent findings can lead to more awareness sessions regarding cyber victimization, the impact of self-silencing and interpersonal dependence, related therapeutic interventions can be designed and given to the emerging adults. The limitations and suggestions of future researches has been highlighted in the end of the study.Item Perfectionism, self-concealment and imposter syndrome in university teachers(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Saliha MoazzamThe main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perfectionism, self-concealment and imposter syndrome in university teachers. A correlation study design was used and a sample of 100 participants (Males = 48, Females =52) of mean age 34 years (SD=6.35) was selected through multistage sampling technique. The measures used in current study were a demographic form, perfectionist tendencies scale for university students (Masood & Naeem, 2021), self-concealment scale (Javed & Jabeen, 2018), and Clance imposter phenomenon scale (Clance, 1985). The results yielded that perfectionism had significant positive correlation with imposter syndrome (.24*) and self-concealment (.29**). Likewise, significant positive correlation (.34**) of self concealment was found with imposter syndrome. However, no significant gender difference was found in imposter syndrome in university teachers. Moreover, nuclear family system was found as a significant negative predictor (β= -.28**) of imposter syndrome.Item Attachment, humor style, and psychological distress in young adults(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Amina ShamshadThis study aimed to look at young adults' attachment, humor styles as independent variable and how it affects psychological well-being of young adults. Data was collected from different institutes from Lahore. A correlational research approach was used to determine the relationship between attachment, humor, and psychological distress. A purposive sample technique was used to collect the data from 225 participants from public and private institutes, 93 of them were male and 132 females. Due to certain difficulties with participant recruitment, including time limits making it impossible to contact new participants, restricted access to target demographics, and financial limitations to reach participation, data was collected limited. Different measures which include Attachment Style Scale (Hazen & Shaver, 1987), the Humor Style Scale (Martin et al., 2003), and the Psychological Distress Scale (Naseem & Ijaz, 2021) were used to measure attachment style, humor style and psychological distress. The Pearson correlation and t-test analysis were employed in the investigation. The findings of correlation analysis demonstrated a negative link between humor and psychological distress. Ultimately, this research emphasizes how important parenting practices are for young adults' mental health and how important humor is as a coping strategy.Item School effectiveness, as perceived by the head-teachers of govt. primary schools in sub-tehsil Renala Khurd(UMT, Lahore, 2001) Shafiq AhmadSchool effectiveness as perceived by the head teachers of Govt. Primary Schools in Sub-Tehsil Renala Khurd. The purpose of the this research study was to know the views of the head teachers of govt. primary schools about school effectiveness and to make suggestions/recommendations for school effectiveness and improvement. Population of the study was limited to all the head teachers of govt. primary schools in Sub Tehsil Renalakhurd. Total population consisted 311 male and female govt. primary schools of which 30 schools were taken by random sampling. Five hypotheses relating to demographic variables (sex, experience, age, marital status and residential status etc.) were formulated. A questionnaire of 2 items was used as a research instrument. Through applying the t-test, one null hypothesis was rejected and four were accepted. By analyzing the data it was found that: ^ Most of the headteachers are clear about the goals of the school. Most of the headteachers have awareness that conducive culture of the school is necessary. Most of the headteachers are clear about the goals of the school. Most of the headteachers believe that democratic leadership helpful for effective school. Most of the headteachers are satisfied with their profession. 'v' Most of the schools, there is full cooperation of all the colleagues. In the light of the findings some recommendations and suggestions were made for school effectiveness and improvement.Item Unwritten laws and traditions of Baluchistan in light of the wandering falcon by Jamil Ahmad(UMT, Lahore, 2022) AYESHA FATIMAThis study is basically focused on the Baluchistan tradition and culture and the idea of their honor also their codes of manner with a lot of an effort giving to the study for understanding the Baluch codes of social life also how their culture and customs effects the society of that province because these people have a large number of their nomadic tradition which they follow strictly especially the unwritten laws of their tribes. Now in the 21st century these codes are changed with the passage of time. Because most of people migrated to the agricultural land from desert and hills that’s why their needs of life and sources are also change these things also effect their tradition and customary laws. Study will focus the codes of honor in the tribal areas and negative or positive effects of their tradition on people and the person who did not follow the rules of their tradition should always be punished. They are very strict for their customs in the case of adultery and love marriages both are not allowed if anyone stand against it, they kill both the woman and her lover. This study will also focus on the tradition of their revenge because Baluch are well known for their revenge. If they find that person after hundreds of years, they take their revenge or maybe it is in the form of adultery as depicted in the novel The Wandering Falcon. This study will observe that under these unwritten laws where the woman of the tribe stands, and about the patriarchal elements which are also mentioned in the novel. The research included in this paper will be examined through the anthropological perspectives about culture and tradition as writer himself was living in the Baluchistan province for military purpose but as a person, he observed by living in their tribes about specific place, and about their people.Item An account of toxic masculinity portrayed in Henrik Ibsen’s a doll’s house(UMT, Lahore, 2021) Maha ShahbazThis study is based on analyzing A doll’s house by Henrik Ibsen in light of socialist feminism and the second sex. It aims to highlight toxic masculinity portrayed by Ibsen and its impacts on women by their subjugation and marginalization. The impacts of toxic masculinity on women in Victorian society will be discussed along with factors causing this. It would focus on sufferings of women due to the dominant psychology and toxic masculinity. Moreover it would cover the practical inclusive socialist feminist approach towards this misogyny. The role of misogyny in giving birth to a gender bigoted society and treatment to women as second sex will be analyzed. As a theoretical framework for the present research Socialist feminism and the second sex by Simone de Beauvoir are used. This will help in discovering factors born on hands of patriarchy in causing women marginalization and the causes of toxic masculinity. Socialist feminism suggest the combination of capitalism with patriarchy as seen in play to be the subject of analysis in study. Qualitative method of research is used for the study and play is used as the instrument of this research. The first chapter is about introduction of the marble industry and its historical background. The second chapter is about the infrastructure, International markets, export/import activities, local market, processing, cutting and technology being used for extracting marble have been discussed. Chapter third is about the overall introduction of the marble industry in NWFP, including the quality problems, regulatory frameworks and administrative framework. Chapter four is about the marketing efforts about marble industry in Pakistan and all over the world In chapter six findings through cross tabs of the questionnaires using the SPSS tool are given. Conclusions and recommendations are given to the traders, government and mine owners', like what should be done by the government institutes and the traders and mine owners'. Through field survey and personal interviews some pit falls and potentials were found, like the lack of modem technology, low education level, government regulations etc. On the bases of questionnaires the industry SWOT analysis is given.
