An uninterruptible power supply is for providing backup power in the event of a disruption in the utility-supplied power. A microcontroller controls the operation of the various components and generates a pulse-width modulation control signal. When a disruption of the utility power occurs, the microcontroller detects such an event, activates the pulse-width-modulation inverter, and seamlessly transfers the load from utility supplied.
