Nature has devised basic and necessary methods for its acquisition and use. Every religion particularly Abrahamic religions provide elaborate guidelines to fulfill the need of food. Islam is no exception as it has laid down general principles and guidelines to have clear distinction between halal (allowed) and haram (prohibited) food. This thesis provides an insight into the Halal and Haram concepts of Islam related to marine creatures particularly fish which have countless types. The main premises of thesis is based on the difference of jurisprudence of Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Shafii on the ruling of marine creatures which directly influences the Halal standards of Pakistan (PS: 3733) and Malaysia (MS:1500) based on the juristic opinions of Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Shafii respectively.
