Introducing of an economical and reflective collar for stray animal’s 1 safety
(UMT.Lahore, 2021) SHAHEERA KHAN; SAFDAR ALI; SAQLAIN HAIDER
Everything starts from a BBC story. I read about an indian boy Shantanu Naidu who have seen many incidents about dogs hitted by cars, and he decided to do something about it. And have designed a reflactive collar for dogs. These collars were reflacting light at nights because of which the drivers will be able to see them during nights. Later this boy get a call from Ratan Tata a famouse buisess man in India, and have offerd him a job and also have funded Shantanu’s project. World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are more than 200 million stray dogs worldwide and the issue of road accidents between animals and vehicle has become a global outcry now. Stray animal road accidents have become a global outcry, due to which various countries are focusing on the remedial strategies to mitigate road accidents in order to preserve livestock and prevent road kill of animals. Apart from stray animals many pet animals such as cows, buffalos, horses and donkeys are also the victim of vehicle collision. These pet animals rely on humans for their survival/safety as they are kept by them as working animals (such as loading, grazing) while working they have to travel through public roads butdue to the negligence and poor driving (over-speed) along with the poor lighting on roads at night causes loss of pet animals. The main reason for initiating the project is to reducing the road accidents due to stray animals and to protect the stray animals of Pakistan. There are 100,000 accidents in Pakistan which result in the loss of life, especially animals, damage to valuable properties (vehicles) and sometimes humans also facing the injuries. In 910 Pakistan there is absence of safety measures of stray animals. In night due to darkness most of the drivers can’t see animals during driving which cause fracture of bones and mortality of stray animals. Because of all these causes we decided to introduce the economical reflective collar for stray animals. Reflective collar for stray animals is the need of the present era for protecting stray animals and humans from road accidents. Project name is the save life of the stray animals and the purpose of the project is to implement the economical reflective safety collars to avoid road accidents and ensure stray animals and humans safety in the city Lahore. The duration of the project is 1 month. Cost of the project is 5 Lac the area of implementation with collaboration of an NGO is Lahore Pakistan.
