Item Role of instructional leadership style in quality teaching and learning & school improvement(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Junaid RafiqInstructional leadership is directly linked to teacher’s development, job satisfaction, student’s achievement and school improvement. The study focused on instructional leadership styles in school. The purpose of the study was to describe the role of instructional leadership in quality teaching and learning and school improvement, to further investigate whether there is an impact of instructional leadership style on quality teaching and learning and school improvement. The study was quantitative and descriptive in nature therefore a questionnaire was used to get data from teachers. The population size was 497, 100 schools (20% of population) were selected as sample through stratified proportional random sampling technique. It consisted of 50 males and 50 females school with a total 497 schools. The study found that high result achiever schools used more instructional leadership style in their organization. Leaders tend to focus instructional leadership in schools by setting directions, by making the organization work and by developing people. The study concluded that there was relationship between principal’s instructional leadership style and quality teaching and learning, instructional leadership style and school improvement. when the school principal mainly focused on instructional leadership style, it helps to raise quality and achieve excellence. Because its teachers’ perception which ensure better feedback system in order to make good performance. School’s effectiveness is one of the most desired attribute which is dreamed by educational community and administration. Keeping check and balance on performance levels is inevitable for all kind of businesses because monitoring is the only thing which can track the performance of all the participants involve. Effectiveness is normally regarded as achieving the pre-decided goals at the cost of all available resources. Academic performance also comes in the same domain of effectiveness because it is the bottom line of every schooling system to secure good grades. Self-evaluation system gives opportunity to individuals to assess themselves. Such kind of feedback system can work across the board for all individuals. As far as school’s effectiveness is concerned, parents, students, teachers and administrative staff are major stakeholders. So, the purpose of this study was to check the impact of self-evaluation on school’s effectiveness along with a comparison between schools who have self-evaluation system and the schools which don’t have them. To check this proposition, this study has obtained data from schools of Lahore in which both types of schools were involved, one who has self-evaluation system and the others which don’t have it. Moreover, matriculation final result data was also collected from Gazette of B.I.S.E Lahore for 2015. 2016 and 2017 for 20 schools whose teachers were sampled in this study. Around 200 questionnaires were obtained from all those schools involved in sampling frame and their responses were tested afterwards on SPSS to perform descriptive, correlational and regression analysis. The results have proved that effectiveness of schools which have self-evaluation system was better than those who don’t have such evaluation system. Schools with self-evaluation system have been found securing more A+ and A grades than the schools with no self-evaluation. Furthermore, the results have indicated that self-evaluation system has a significant impact on school’s effectiveness. This study is significant for both theoretical field and practical field. Implications, limitations and future research indications have also been given at the last of this study. In this study student teacher ratio had been taken as a mediating variable and its impact on school effectiveness, at secondary level high achiever school of Lahore had been studied. It was a mixed study. A random sample of size 112 was taken form private and public secondary level high achieve schools by using the random number table . Class room observation tool was adopted to observe the quality teaching and learning. Annual result 2015 of BISE Lahore was taken in to account for the measurement of the school effectiveness. Presence of student in the class room and number of student entered in the attendance register was observed to note student teacher ratio. The overall reliability of observational tool “Quality Teaching and Learning Lesson Observation” was 0.984. Mean and standard deviation of each construct i) Positive and purposeful learning environment, ii) Content knowledge and relevance, iii) Lesson presentation, iv) Assessment for learning, v) Time management, vi) Student’s engagement progress, vii) Personal traits, viii) Behavior and safety of observational tool was calculated for private and public sector high achieving secondary level schools . Independent sample t test were applied to test the significance of the mean difference between quality teaching and learning between public and private sectors. Mean of all construct for private sector differ significantly from public sector. Student teacher ratio in public sector high achieving school was found to be significantly different form private sector schools. Correlation analysis was conducted among student teacher ratio, school effectiveness and quality teaching and learning. Quality teaching and learning and school effectives were positively correlated and r = .840** , school effectiveness and student teacher ratio were negatively correlated r = .777** and quality teaching and learning and student teacher ratio were found negatively related r = -.801**respectively. For the mediation analysis Preacher & Hayes, 2008 mediation analysis was conducted to find out the mediating impact of student teacher ratio and it was founded that student teacher ratio had partial mediating impact on school effectiveness.
