Item Mental toughness, mindful self-care and procrastination in working and non-working students(UMT Lahore, 2023) Fatima Sami KhanThe study aims to investigate the relationship between Mental toughness, Mindful self-care and Procrastination in working and non-working students. A correlational study design was used to access the relationship between the study variables. A total of 226 university students were included in the study, aged between 20-28 years of BS/BSC and MS/MPhil program. The sample contains equal number of working and non-working students. The participants were given Mental Toughness Scale for University Students (Anthoney, 2015), Mindful Self-Care Scale Brief (Hotchkiss & Cottone, 2019) and Student’s Procrastination Scale (Mahmood, 2015) to assess the relationship. The objective of the study was (i) to find the relationship between mental toughness, mindful self-care and procrastination in working and non-working students (ii) to find the predictors of procrastination in working and non-working students (iii) to find the mediating role of mindful self-care on procrastination and mental toughness in working and non-working students. The study findings suggest significant results for the correlations and mindful self-care significantly mediated between mental toughness and procrastination in working and non-working students. However, no significant differences were found for age, gender and work status, and the study variables of working and non-working students. It is crucial to understand the reasons behind the increasing incidents of teacher’s neglection and frustration in workplace. This study aims to investigate the relationship among cognitive flexibility, intolerance of uncertainty and need satisfaction in university teachers in Lahore. Second purpose of this study was to indentify the predictors of need satisfaction in teachers. Correlational research design and purposive sampling strategy was used. Participants were comprised of 300 university teachers (53% men and 47% women) with age ranging from 20-75 years (M = 40.90, SD = 10.70). Cognitive Flexibility Scale (Martin, 1995), Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (Carleton, et al., 2007) and Work-related Need Satisfaction Scale (Van et al., 2009) were applied. Results indicated that need satisfaction was found to have positive relationship with cognitive flexibility and negative relationship with inhibitory intolerance of uncertainty in teachers. Need frustration was negatively associated with cognitive flexibility and prospective intolerance of uncertainty in teachers. Cognitive flexibility positively and inhibitory intolerance of uncertainty negatively predict need satisfaction. Non-significant gender differences exist in need satisfaction and need frustration. Need satisfaction was found high in professors and high need frustration was found in assistant professors and lecturers in workplace. Findings of this study are considered to provide a deeper understanding of teacher’s need satisfaction and frustration in workplace.Item Psychosocial stressors, work family conflict, mindfulness, and quality of life in police personnel(UMT Lahore, 2023) MUHAMMAD USMANThe present study investigated the relationship between police psychosocial stressors, work family conflict, mindfulness and quality of life and also determined the moderating role of mindfulness and mediating role of work family conflict between police psychosocial stressors and quality of life. Correlational research design was used. The sample consisted of 160 police personnel with age range 20-60 years (M = 38.58, SD = 7.92) were taken from police stations of Lahore, Sheikhupura and Toba Tek Singh. Questionnaire on the police psychosocial stressor scale (Bashir & Subhan, 2017), Work Family Conflict Scale (Haslam et al., 2015), Mindful Attention Awareness scale (Brown & Ryan, 2003) and Professional quality of life (Hundall, 2009) were used to assess the sample. Results of Pearson product moment showed that there was a significant relationship in police psychosocial stressors, work family conflict, mindfulness and quality of life. The results of multiple hierarchical regression indicated that work to family conflict negatively predicted the compassion satisfaction and positively predicted the burnout. However, police psychosocial stressors positively predicted Secondary traumatic stress. Further mindfulness negatively predicted burnout. The results of mediation through process Macro indicated that family to work conflict showed indirect effect between police psychosocial stressors and compassion satisfaction well as burnout. However, work to family conflict did not mediate the relationship. The results of the moderation through multiple regression analysis indicated non-significant interaction effect between police psychosocial stressors and subscales of quality of life. The present study is important in police department highlighting the role of police psychosocial stressors, work family conflict in predicting the compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary traumatic stress viii in police personnel so the results can be helpful to reduce stressors to improve work qualities.Item Personality traits, criminal sentiments, moral disengagement and deviant behavior in young adults(UMT Lahore, 2023) SHAFQAT ALIDeviant behavior has increasingly become a prevalent issue in past years among young adults. The current study was designed to examine and explore the relationship between personality traits, criminal sentiments, moral disengagement, and deviant behavior in young adults. The sample consisted of 242 young adults. The sample age range was 18 35 years. Data was collected from different areas of Lahore. Questionnaire on the Big Five Inventory (Rammstedt & John, 2005), Criminal Sentiments Scale (Andrews & Wormith, 1984), Moral Disengagement Scales (Bandura, 2002), and Deviant Behavior Scale (Mushtaq & Kauser, 2012) were used. Descriptive and inferential analysis along with psychometric properties, correlation, regression, mediation, moderation, t-test, and ANOVA were used for analysis. Findings of the study indicated there was a significant relationship in personality traits, criminal sentiments, moral disengagement, and deviant behavior. Extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, tolerance for law violation, displacement of responsibility, and dehumanization were the best predictors of deviant behavior in young adults. Furthermore, group differences were also indicated significant gender, education based differences. Moreover, the results further revealed that criminal sentiment was a significant moderator between personality traits and deviant behavior. In addition to that results also shown that moral disengagement was a significant mediator between personality traits and deviant behavior and showed partial mediation while the openness personality trait showed full mediation. Addressing these factors that contribute to deviant behavior will be helpful for the development of effective intervention programs.Item Self handicapping, procrastination, work-life balance and i psychological distress in working women pursuing higher education.(UMT Lahore, 2023) Aqsa MirzaWomen feel empowered enough to both hold a job and pursue higher education despite the adversities they have to face. Women are often faced with a choice of either working or completing their education. Some women rarely dare to dream big and do both together. The current study aims to determine the effects of procrastination and self-handicapping behaviors that can cause an imbalanced and distressed work-life among working women pursuing a higher degree in Pakistan. The main objective of the study is to enlighten the academic realm about the efforts of working women who are daring enough to dream big and fight the socio-psychological factors. This research also delves into the intricate relationship between self-handicapping procrastination, work-life balance, and psychological distress among Pakistani women striving for higher degrees. While previous studies have explored these phenomena, there is a significant gap in understanding how they manifest within the unique socio-cultural context of Pakistani women's academic and professional journeys. Employing quantitative research, this study endeavors to illuminate the occurrence and correlates of self-handicapping and procrastination among Pakistani working women in higher education and to separate their consequences for both work-life balance and psychological well being. The study's purpose is to capture the nuanced practices and perceptions of participants, thereby offering a wide-ranging understanding of the fundamental mechanisms at play. Initial results point to a strong correlation between Pakistani working women pursuing higher degrees, self-handicapping procrastination tendencies, and difficulties striking a work-life balance. Additionally, the study aims to provide insight into the potential influence of procrastinating practices on outcomes related to mental health by elucidating the role of psychological distress as a mediator in this relationship. viii The research has numerous ramifications, and it is expected to advance theoretical knowledge as well as practical interventions that promote the success of Pakistani working women in their academic and professional endeavors. Through the identification of factors that exacerbate procrastination and self-handicapping, worsen work-life balance and psychological distress, stakeholders can collaborate to create environments that support women's empowerment, resilience, and holistic development. Based on 209 samples from women, 107 unmarried and 102 married, this research has ensured to gather the ground reality of the said subject, making it reliable academic research. The study has found empirical evidences that there is a concrete interlinking between self handicapping, procrastination, work-life balance, and psychological distress among the working women of Pakistan. The research suggests that there should be a safe and inclusive environment for females pursuing higher education at home and at work places, organizations, and institutions. Without removing the menace of discrimination, harassment, and prejudice, the bitter outcomes of work-life imbalance are set to survive in society. Subsequently, the authorities of organizations with working women need to implement well-explained, concrete, and transparent policies and take prompt measures to address and root out these problems.
