This might be according to their self-realization or as an attempt to survive with other religious activities at their institute. This research project is purely qualitative in nature. The research employed six in-depth interviews with respondents chosen through snowballing and purposive sampling techniques. The data was analyzed through codes, categories and themes. This interpretive study first attends to the question that how Pakistan’s existing prison infrastructure was used for detaining Al-Qaeda and/or Taliban associated terrorists. Second, when and why the need arose for developing a dedicated terrorist detention facility (TDF); and finally, what are the internal and external security related vulnerabilities of a TDF and how do they put at risk adjoining urban settlements? The research found some collateral action by the state in response to previous jailbreaks. The new paradigm for terrorist detention was adopted which focused on dedicated terrorist detention facilities. However, the fallout of this approach was that adjoining civilian settlements faced problems of economic insecurity, hampered mobility, and communication barriers due to installment of signal jammers. In addition, certain challenges of old prisons persisted that involved internal negligence, institutional incapacities, and connivance .Risk Society Theory was applied for analyzing the strategy emanating from Pakistan’s security apparatus. Alternately, the ‘freedom from fear’ strand of Human Security Theory was utilized which established that fear of terrorist attacks was present in the daily lives of civilian settlements present in the vicinity of a TDF.Item The Relationship Between Child Abuse and Child-Parents Attachment(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Sanam AkhtarItem Sociological Significance of Anti-Quackery Campaign By the Punjab Health Care Commission(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Hafiza Sumaira NiazIn the present study researcher used qualitative research method to conduct and evaluate the quackery practices on human health and also the status of quackery practices existing in our Society. The study has descriptive nature that has been designed to describe the causes behind Quackery practices and also to explain the need and significance of Anti Quackery campaign by Punjab health care commission to reduce the ill effects of quackery methods of treatment, Researcher used non probability purposive sampling technique. A total sample of 25 respondent was taken to obtain information to accomplish desired objective .Respondents including Quacks and patients were taken as sample. Tool of data collection Interview schedule was constructed under the guidance of research. After the collection of data, it has been thematically analyzed by using qualitative analysis method to generalize the result. Researcher found that people don't knowledge about the Governmental organizations working for them by realizing the gravity of the under investigation issue and also due to lack of awareness among community regarding quacks and healthy health care commission. Major concern of present study was how much anti-quackery campaigns are necessary to aware community about health healers. Findings indicated that many people trust on quacks due to lack of awareness. There are number of economic, social and psychological causes behind quackery.Item Organizational commitment: manifestation of Job satisfaction in Police officers.(UMT.lahore, 2020) Sheeraz AkhtarCurrent study aims at exploring the answer of two main questions. (1) measuring the extent to which job satisfaction among police officers can predicts all three dimensions of Organizational Commitment i.e (Affective, Continuance and Normative). (2) It also embarks to assess the moderating effect of the demographic variables like gender and rank on the relationship of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This is the empirical study in which the sample of 550 male and female officers from Operations and Investigation wings of the Lahore Police Stations have been taken. Participants have filled a self administered questionnaire which comprised on Job Satisfaction scale JDI, Meyer and Allen Organizational commitment scale along with demographic variables. Simple liner Regression and Moderation analysis have carried out. Job satisfaction has found to be positively and significantly associated with affective commitment and normative commitment but negatively and significantly associated with continuance commitment. So Job satisfaction has found to be a good predictor for all three facets (Affective commitment, Continuance Commitment and Normative Commitment) of organizational commitment. Researcher adopted qualitative research approach to find the answer of research questions. The researcher collected data from two different prisons, (District Jail Lahore & District Jail Pakpattan) to compare the situation and find the reasons behind problems. In Pakistan prisons the capacity of the prisoners is three times more than the actual capacity and the prisoners face many problems during imprisonment like inmate’s violence on inmates, staff violence with prisoners, food, sexual harassment cases, gang violence, low availability of place, water problem, cleaning problems, the behaviour of guard with poor criminals who can’t afford money and effect of imprisonment on prisoners’ families. In-depth interviews were conducted with the prisoners in face to face mode of data collection and data was analysed using thematic analysis technique. The results showed very pathetic situation of cleaning, prisoners violence, overcrowding, food, health, usage of drugs and administrative flaws in Lahore district and the situation of these problems is totally diverse in district Jail Pakpattan. Researcher recommended to undergo serious policy making while keeping in mind the above mentioned situation of jails and prisoners.Item PSYCHO-SOCIAL CORRELATES OF AGGRESSIVE DRIVING BEHAVIOR: MASCULINITY IN PERSPECTIVE(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Mehwish NoreenThe aim of present research was to investigate the relationship between personality traits, masculinity and aggressive driving behavior in adults. It was hypothesized there is likely to be a relationship between personality traits, masculinity and aggressive driving behavior in relationship and masculinity will mediated relationship between personality traits and aggressive driving behavior. It was a co-relational research with the cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 200 adult male drivers with age ranged from 18-55 (M = 26.65, SD = 6.50). The sample was required from different institutes of Lahore by using non-probability sampling technique. Measures include Ten-item Personality Inventory (TIPI), Masculine Behavior Scale (MBS) and Aggressive Driving Behavior Questionnaire (ADBQ). The results of Pearson product moment correlation analysis showed that extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness to experiences were found to be positively significantly associated with masculinity, and masculinity was found to be positively significantly correlated with aggressive driving behaviour. The results of SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) showed that Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability and Openness to Experiences were found to be significant positive predictors of masculinity and Extraversion, Openness to Experiences and masculinity were found to be significant positive predictors of aggressive driving behaviour, while Conscientiousness and Emotional Stability were found to be significant negative predictors of aggressive driving behaviour. The results of indirect effect (mediation) showed that masculinity was significant mediator between personality traits and aggressive driving behavior This research is conducting determine the potential psycho-social factors of aggressive driving so that strategy was planned to reduce the aggressive driving behavior and enhanced the better social perception in men.Item Exploring Gendered English Textbooks(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Rida ZulfiqarThe following research is presenting the idea and concept of citizenship by discussing the Gender and citizenship. Early marriages and anti-child marriages are raising phenomena in the entire world. In this modern era the women empowerment is a globalized subject. Pakistani culture and norms impedes the women’s basic rights and women seclusion (in shape of Pardah). The basic reason for that problem is the roots of hierarchy, feudal and patriarchal system. Various traditions are jeopardizing Pakistani culture in the contour of (Vani, lajia, Swara strong, Sang Chati) etc. These illicit customary practices are imposed on women and adolescent’s mothers in Pakistani fraternity. On behalf of omen customary practices teen mothers have to face domestic violence like children, abusing, financial, economical and psychological misuse and some time resolving feud. It’s become a hot issue because girls having a baby at the same time they have to go to school. They suffer from different kinds of tribulations regarding their education and career. Mostly such kinds of girls consider injudicious and stereotype. To explore these phenomena the study was designed purely qualitative in nature.Item A STUDY OF SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS EFFECTING THE CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR AMONG YOUTH IN DISTRICT JAIL, LAHORE(UMT.Lahore, 2017) MUHAMMAD UMARYouth is considered the dominant factor in the development of the country. The involution of the youth of country signs of its’ dark future. While considering the paramount of the youth crime the research aimed to evaluate the factors that are responsible for crime among youth. The research surveyed the district jail Lahore and collected date from 120 respondents while adopting systematic sampling approach. The researcher analyzed the data through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) while running the linear regression. The results of linear regression showed that most of the major crimes among youth are influenced by the social, psychological and economic factors. The frequency of the crime among youth is directly proportional to the disturbance in their social, psychological and economic status. The youngsters who have copacetic social status, good psychological level, and higher economic status have lower propensity to commit major crimes murder, illicit sexual activity, narcotics, robbery, murder attempt, violence, kidnapping, and fraud. But on another hand, the puerile persons who lower social status, poor psychological situation and lower economic status have higher chances to pull in these crimes. On the substratum of the findings of the research, the researcher recommended that policy of the state that covers the employment for all youngsters with opportune pay, edification institutions, family, and media are the implements that can play a role in preventing criminal behavior among youth.Item Poor Water Crises its Health Hazards and Household Practices(UMT.Lahore, 2017) NADEEM AHMADWater is the major component of life of all living beings on the earth and it is essential element for the life. Its era of postmodernism and post-industrial. The industries have different kind of pollution which effects the environment, one of them is the water pollution which directly hit the human being and cause for the diseases and illness. In the Pakistan due to the industries which are situated in the metropolitan cities, causing the water pollution because these industries have no control for recycling and reprocessing of waste water and without recycling its flows out in open drain. Due to the industries revolution the push and pull factor cause the urbanization and density of population poor sanitation, miser condition of housing, low income status exist around the industries. The researcher uses the quantitative research methods. Cluster sampling and convenient sampling technique was used in the research. 500 male and female respondents were interviewed. The research use SPSS 21 statistical software for data analysis. The researcher applies chi-square, regression and path analysis in the data analysis. Theorists and researchers in the information sciences have calculated the information seeking behavior of professions. On the other hand, among these studies police as a profession has not been calculated adequately. In other words, there are only a small number of studies related to information seeking behavior of the police. Aside from the information seeking behavior aspect, there has been no previous attempt to explore the information needs and information sources of crime scene investigators. On the other hand, there is an uplifted open familiarity with the importance of the collection of physical confirmation and preservation of crime scene and the behavior of crime scene investigators. Along with the Information seeking behavior,This study inspected the level of awareness among the examination officers of District Lahore. Utilizing information gathered from surveys and Interviews the researcher will analyze the views of 100 crime scene agents and professionals affiliated with investigation wing of the police department. The information gathered will be utilized to recognize and rank the abilities most vital for precise handling and gathering of physical proof at the crime scene and the information seeking behavior of CSIs.Item Water Scarcity and Social Well Being of People of Makran(UMT.Lahore, 2017) Tariq AliMakran is the hub of drought and has been impacted during many years. The people of Makran are involved in lively stock farming for earning their livelihood. But unfortunately, there found no sufficient water resources for the domestic needs of a growing population in Makran. Water scarcity is nearly connected to food, health and other security and more importantly it is the most basic needs of people. However, Water is a key stone in eradicating poverty and bringing economic growth. It is very necessary to know how water scarcity has an impact on the social well-being of people of Makran. The main purpose of this paper is to understand the perceptions of people as well as understandings about drought from the household of Gwadar region. Furthermore, this paper hasexplored the due impacts of water scarcity on social well-being of people of Makran. This research paper is conducted using qualitative research design in which in-depth semi-structured interviews wereused for thedata collection. Besides this, the collected data’s are analyzed using thematic approach in which data’s aregrouped andcoded for the purpose to bring out a new phenomenon.
