Speed control of dc motor by switch mode power supply (smps)
(UMT.Lahore, 2015) Muhammad Naeem; Aamar Sharif
This thesis gives the whole idea and theme of the ''Speed Control of DC Motor by SMPS" to the reader. Switch Mode Power Converter (SMPS) is an efficient and commonly use power converter nowadays. Today, two types of DC power supply can be found in the market, Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) and linear power supply. However, many customers prefer to choose SMPS than linear power supply because for same power rating, SMPS is smaller, cheaper and lighter than linear power supply. SMPS also have better efficiency than linear power supply. In this thesis an AC to DC converter SMPS circuit, having a BJT's tor switching operation and a PWM based feedback circuit for driving the switching of the BJT's. For an ideal switch, all power is absorbed by the load, and the energy efficiency is 100%, because when the switch is open, there is no current in it; when the switch is closed, there is no voltage across it. For this project, PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is being used to drive the switches. This project is focusing on developing SMPS using fly-back converter topology. In this design the line voltage at 220V/50Hz is taken as input. An Isolation Transformer is used to isolate the DC output from input supply. The transformer output is rectified by the high frequency Diode bridge rectifier and is filtered using a capacitor to give the regulated DC output. A Voltage regulator is connected to give the precise voltage output. This regulated voltage is driven by PWM feedback signal, to control the output voltage level. The dc voltage at the output depends on the width of the switching pulse. The on and off of the switch is important because the duty cycles of the PWM is used to regulate the DC output voltage. So the desire output voltage can be produced by generate various duty cycl

    Low wind power turbine
    (UMT.Lahore, 2015) H. Ussaid Hasan; Fawad Fazal
These days, power shortfall is the biggest issue of our country. Every single person living in this land is directly or indirectly massively effected by this issue. It was started about 20 years ago and still no serious solution for this problem by the governing authorities. Generation companies are consuming natural resources for power generation which are limited and may be fully consumed one day. So we are looking for alternate energy resources for the electricity generation, to reduce consumption of fossil fuels, environmental pollution and to avoid harmful effects to human life. Wind power is one of the alternate energy resource and our project consists of a wind turbine attached with an electric generator. This report shows the design and fabrication of an efficient low wind power turbine. It thoroughly explains the whole process of power generation through wind energy. The proposed design can operate at low wind, Cost effective and compact structure. This "Low Wind Power Turbine" consists of wind turbine, supporting structure, electrical generator and electronics. Working through this idea showed us very good results in getting power through this source. We can get sufficient power from this system.

    energystoreusingfootstep”
(UMT.Lahore, 2015) Kanwar Muhammad Danish; Rao Saeed Islam
Energy is the most basic requirement of people these days because of the fast advancement in the post-modern age with the vast use of technology in almost every field of human life. To fulfill the energy demands of people, use of renewable energy resources is suggested by analysts of the world. There sources must be adopted with proper calculations and estimations as the proper use of it may produce a large amount of energy at fairly low costs. So these techniques may be applied in the most efficient way. Our final year project comprises the concept of getting energy (Power Generation) from renewable energy resource (using footsteps), so the title as “Energy Store using Footsteps (ESFS shoe power generation)”. The fundamental structure of our project is the mechanical system fixed in the soul of the shoe which will move the shaft of DC Gear motor to generate AC voltage during walk and further rectified into DC voltage to charge two DC batteries which is also fixed in front side of soul of shoe. The voltage stored in these batteries moved through Buck converter and pure 5V (dc volt) will be occurred at output to charge any cell phone and brighten up any light under 5V.

Gsm monitoring and tap changing of atransformer
(UMT.Lahore, 2015) RASHID BASHIR; USMAN ALI; SHAHZAD KHURAM
In our country Pakistan we are facing Electricity and Power Problems. Often there is Fluctuation of main supply that can damage our home appliances and other electricalEquipments. Also the overloading of transformers is normal problem and due to theImproper monitoring they can get damaged. This result in loss of supply of electricity and also loss of money spent on these transformers Our aim is to cover both of these problems and somehow we have presented aSolution. Our project entitled “GSM monitoring and Tap changing of a Transformer” canMonitor remote transformers including their Voltage Current and Power. It can alsoAct as a stabilizer for the load and changes taps of transformer according to mainSupply and load demand. Monitoring of transformer is done through GSM and is displayed on LCD. And wehave used TRIAC for switching of Taps of transformer. Our thesis further elaborates this solution step by step. This implementation has ahigh start up cost but the maintenance cost is very moderate and acceptable. Our project also solves the problem of stealing of transformer which is a major issueNowadays. We have installed an alarm to indicate the operator about the stealing ofTransformer.Although this project can bring revolution in power transmission and generationSystem of Pakistan but still there is a room of improvement like installment ofinfrared sensor with transformers for security cooling and heating of transformersbetter monitoring transformers with a technology better than GSM as sometimesGSM signals can cause problem in hilly areas Monitoring of each individual loadand much more We have just presented a concept and taken a step towards improvement of monitoring of transformers and fulfilling load requirements. And afterwards we have practically implemented this concept to present a model. There can be much improvement in this as improvement is nature.

Prepaid coin system power outlet using solar system
    (UMT.Lahore, 2015) Adeel aslam
In this modern technology era, usage of energy resources has increased tremendously. The population explosion has been a major element in draining energy resources. Especially pakistan is facing greater energy crisis than neighbors. It is imperative that i judiciously and imperatively utilize the available alternate energy resources. Solar energy is one of the everlasting energy resources which can used to produce electricity. Moreover non-renewable energy resources such as fossil fuels are decreasing rapidly. Water is also less now to produce electricity. So, as a final year project; i have designed a solar energy coin base power outlet. I described coin based mobile charger using solar system. We all know very well that mobile phones or similar personal gadgets become a major source of business/personal communication. This phones and gadgets business is currently worth billions of dollars. The need is to provide a proper public charging system that work when wapda electricity not available. Many people’s comments on this project that a public mobile phone charging service is not a worthy business because mostly people can charge their phones at home, in their office. If they couldn’t charge at home or office they can charge in their cars, but i think that some of them can’t. Students and many people use the public transportation that don’t know that how much time their gadgets battery will long lasting. Mostly they left their charger at home or office or they don’t bother to have charger with them always.
