Factors affecting the garments productivity in sewing room
(UMT.Lahore, 2007) Waqas Anis; Furqan Amin; Hafiz Sohaib Ahmad
Textile and clothing are the two major industries of the Pakistan and contributing 63.92% (Federal Bureau of Statistics August 2006) of the total export. These industries are accounting round about 46% of the total manufacturing and also providing employment over 38% of the total manufacturing labor force. The machinery of textile and garments has imported of over USD 4 billion during the last few years that considerably improved the quality and the productivity of the Pakistan textile and clothing products. The Government of Pakistan are also more focusing in this industry and targeting more than USD 10 billion of exports of textile and the garments made-ups in the following years. The Government of Pakistan also has planned the "Textile City" in Lahore and Karachi. Obviously this step of the government will help the industry to achieve the targets of textile and clothing exports and will also helpful to improve thequality and the productivity of the products through new machinery. At this time we should more focus on garment and knitwear exports of Pakistan. At this time round about 5000 plus garment units are operating in Pakistan. In these units 12% are said to be large scale and 88% are small almost small house industry level. The industry is using round about 250,000 industrial sewing machines and half a million domestic sewing machines in this sector. In the field of knitting too there are about 750 big and small units. In the last economic year Pakistan fetched more than US $2 billion from the export of garments and knitwear and expects the more growth in the earnings in the current year. These two sectors, said to be the highest value added textile products, are likely to emerge main foreign exchange earning items in the post 2005 world export market. According to World Trade Organization, Pakistan did the Business of 3604 US million in 2005 and has the 1.25% share in the total world clothing exports. And its ranking is till on the position of 19th in the world clothing export. According to Federal Bureau of Pakistan there is 8.66% and 18.46% positive growth in august 2006 in the filed of knitting and clothing respectively with respect to august 2005. While the share in export of Knitting and clothing has become 13.41% and 8.95% respectively in august 2006. Even our neighbor countries India, Bangladesh and China are on too much high position in the world ranking and growing more day by day which is too much alarming for Pakistan.

    Capstone project
    (UMT.Lahore, 2007) Atif Jalil
In Pakistan textile industry is playing a vital role. Pakistan is an Industrial country. We earn more than 65 % revenue from textile goods. Textile is one of biggest sector in Pakistan. We cannot survive without textile. We have also name in producing good cotton. We are at 8^^ position for producing cotton. We are facing lot of problems after WTO. Pakistan textile industry totally changed after WTO .Our industry is facing crisis due to WTO. Pakistan shows a poor performance is its high cost of production and poor quality. Pakistan apparel industry has only one way to survive that is to produce products at low price. Cost of quality is a major issue in Pakistan apparel industry, most of the apparel industry doesn't know how to calculate and implement cost of quality. I got the idea of cost of quality from textile conference that is held at pearl continental. I understand the actual meaning of cost of quality. The entire teacher told us in details. Our industry should need to plan to reduce costs because it is the major issue of Pakistan industry. Only way industry can progress through reducing cost. We can come out the crisis by controlling over the prices. One of the basic reasons of high cost that our industries don't plan well to overcome the problem of cost. That's why they face problem. They spend more cost on the unnecessary items that are useless. Our main focus will be on sewing room because it is one most important unit in our industry .1 think if we are able to reduce the cost of sewing department we are able to safe our 50% profit of garment. That will helpful for our industry. In current era we are surviving through better quality. Our garment quality is better than other countries. In garment industry competition has increased. Industries should struggle hard for their survival. In the current era those companies can survive that are interested in reducing their cost. Companies need to plan overcome the problem of high cost because it is one of main problem of our industry. Companies need to improve efficiency level of their workers. Efficiency level can only way increase through increase level of training and better checking system on them. If we are able to solve this problem then we can reduce fifty percent problem of our industry

The effect of quality of wate on reactive dyeing of cellulose textiles by some selected sumifix bifunctional dyes
(UMT.Lahore, 2007) Saqib Ali; Khalid Waleed
The quality of water is very important in the dyeing of textile materials. Dyeing industry uses a huge quantity of water. The quality of ground water is different at different locations. The major objective of this project is to check the quality parameters (PH, TDS, alkalinity and hardness etc) of ground water collected from different industrial areas and their effect on the quality of dyeing regarding to quality of dyed specimen surface (evenness and whiteness), hue, and chroma, lightness and total difference. The effect of quality of water is also studied for washing fastness and crocking of dyed specimen. The water is tested at PCSIR labs. The Faisalabad water has lot of contaminations but the watersamples from Multan Road, Kotlkhpat and Raiwind Manga Road has contaminations with in accepted limits. The Knitted fabric samples are dyed with Red, Yellow and Navy colors in different water samples. Fabric samples dyed with different dyes in different depth are compared with relevant samples dyed in Multan road water, selecting as standard. The comparison is done both visually and with spectrophotometer. The washing fastness and crocking of the dyed samples is also measured. All the information ai*e arranged in tables and studied for final evaluation. It is evaluated that water quality has no definable effect on the surface properties. Hue, chroma, lightness and total difference of the dyed specimens. It is also evaluated that water quality has no effect on the washing fastness and crocking. The area has bright chances for future research. The effect of water on dyeing can be studied further by varying the parameters of quality of water artificially by the addition of chemicals and by the results prediction of most suitable water, quality parameters for dyeing.

Faults and remedies associated with bleach wash on denim
    (UMT.Lahore, 2007) M.Khurram Khan Niazi; Muhammad Zahid
Bleach is a very commonly applied wash on denim garments, due to its demand in the market, but there are a lot of faults and problems related to the quality which areassociated with this wash.We ellaborate some of the most famous and popular faults of this wash in our project and suggested remedies for these faults after carefull observation and experimentation. This project was divided in to three main categories.First of all we have studied the impact of bleach wash on the strength of the fabric. This objective was achieved by collecting the finished but unwashed sample of denim same quality of denim fabric was acquired. Then these samples were washed with both Sodium Hypochlorite an Calcium Hypochlorite. In order to made proper comparison, the grab test "ASTM DS-4049" was performed on these samples and the readings of the test was recorded. The other dimension of this project was to analyze the yellowing and backstaining faults. Then the industrially popular remedies for this fault was searched or determined, and finally test for these remedies were made and after conforming that tests with proper experimentation and analysis a precise remedy for these faults were proposed.

Cutting room fabric losses and their effect on partial productivity
    (UMT.Lahore, 2007) Ahsin Raza
Fabric loss Is a major contribution to material utilization. Minimizing fabric loss during spreading can reduce the total production costs for garment manufacturing. This is the key point which has been highlighted in this report. Today garment industry is facing very tough scenario because of more competitors and less buyers, buyers have many options but suppliers have very limited choices. The time has gone when there was quota system and garment industry didn't need to be very much efficient but today suppliers are fighting for price and quality: on less price better quality is expected. Orders are given to the suppliers who offer better quality and less price. So within such scenario, only the thing which can increase profit and minimize loss of a company is fabric saving. In this report, actual data was gathered of a company and analyzed to find out fabric losses and their effect on partial productivity and on the basis of results; recommendations are also given which may be helpful for the industry and the upcoming student of my university.
