Item Diagnostic Study of Tetra Pak(UMT, Lahore, 2001) FARAZ AHMAD KHANItem Internship Report on Packages Limited(UMT, Lahore, 2001) MOHAMMAD ALl DODHYThe final project of BBA (H) is an internship report on Packages Limited. Packages Limited was set up in 1957 to provide quality-packaging material for Pakistan's growing consumer industry. This company was a joint venture among the Ali Group of Pakistan & Akerlund & Rausing of Sweden. The final project has been divided into eight chapters to facilitate the reader. The main objective of this project is firstly to provide the reader the basic information about the pulp zmd paper industry and secondly to provide the reader with various analytical and research studies. The methodology used for the analytical studies is the analysis of the secondary data that was collected by the organization. The data used in the research study is primary data and was collected for only research purpose. The method used for collecting the data was a questionnaire filled by the Tissue Department and as well as oral interview of representative of Tissue Department Mr. Abdur Razzaq, was also conducted. The result of the production rate analysis was that the company is producing at the rate that is very near to its capacity and the major reason for that is the less demand form its customer about that specific type of pulp. The year 2000 was the first year in the pulp mill when the chlorine was replaced with sodium hypochloride so the chemical consumption analysis results showed their points of deficiencies that was basically the higher kappa number. It was concluded from the plant-down time analysis that the major reason for the plant shutdown is either high level or no demand form the customer. The customer satisfection study showed the deficiencies of the pulp mill in the viewpoint of their customers that wanted improvement in operations, quality as well as production timing. It is suggested that pulp mill should increase its customer segment as well as it should increase its customer within the segments it is currently dealing. The pulp mill should conduct proper training programs for its workers, it is also suggested that in pulp mill working environment needs to be improved as well as the use of information technology requires more attention. It is hoped that these studies as well as suggestions will be useful for every reader as they provide a deep understanding about the various aspects of the pulp industry.Item Systems Analysis & Design For Intranet of ILM(UMT, Lahore, 2001) Muhammad Sulaitnan KhanI was given an assignment to do the Analysis of the "Intranet for IliAl". The head Mr. Muhammad Tariq AH of MIS department of ILM gave this assignment to me. This task was hard for me but was made a little easy by the information and cooperation extended to me by the concern authorities. For the accomplishment of this task I interviewed the following heads of departments and their staff members who were very cooperative in providing the necessary information; > Dr. Rasheed Kousar (Dean ILM) > Mr. Mukhtar Hassan Zaidi (Head PSD) > Mr. Abdul Ghafar Ghaffari (Head R&D) After doing the interviews with these three persons I came to know the format of their working and the type of reports each of the department put forward to his head. After that I came up with the following system of intranet forlLM. This also includes some of my recommendations and suggestions for the designing & implementation of the system along with the suggestions for the training of the end users of the system. I think that If this intranet system is implemented in ILM it will definitely help the executives of the institution to improve the efficiency of the institution.Item Trade opportunities among Pakistan and East African Countries(UMT, Lahore, 2001) Abdirisak Ahmed MohamedThis project sheds light on an area of great importance to both Pakistan and the East African countries. Due to the time factor and the difficulty in obtaining the data, this project couldn't be written in a detail beyond this extent. Pakistan in comparison with these countries is considered to be more developed, therefore the trade opportunities that Pakistan can have with these countries may concentrate on the following areas: Textiles, leather products, processed food, beverages, garments, paper products, sports goods. Surgical instruments, pharmaceuticals. Construction materials, rice, small industry and agricultural machineries, electrical appliances, electronics and others. Pakistan has already trade relations with some of these countries but surprisingly it seems that both Pakistan and the East African countries are not aware of the fact that engaging in a wider trade relation than the one existing today will benefit them and thus save a large amount of foreign exchange. The main trade partners with the East Afncan countries include USA, European countries, Japan, China, Malaysia, Brazil and others. The goods imported from Pakistan will be cheaper as compared to those imported from the traditional competitors because Pakistan has a cheaper manpower; secondly Pakistan is geographically closer to the East African countries. If Pakistan intensifies its Trade relations with these countries there's a possibility that its products will make their way in to the Central Africa, this may further create another opportunity for the Pakistani business community. On the other hand, the East African countries relatively have less export to offer Pakistan but they can indirectly benefit by opting to import cheaper products from Pakistan. This project will help the Pakistani, the East African business communities and every other foreign willing to obtain information concerning the trade opportunities among
