Item Design and development of air water generator(UMT, Lahore, 2021) Muhammad Ashir Naveed, Adeel Ghafor and GulsherWater scarcity is a global threat and it is getting serious day by day. Traditional sources of water such as rivers, lakes and ground water are depleting at a faster rate than they are renewed. According to UN in 2025, the demand for fresh water will exceed by 40%. [1] It’s the time to explore alternative sources that contribute in fight against water scarcity. This project focuses on addressing this issue with the help of generating fresh drinking water from the water vapor present in the air. The atmosphere is a free source of water available to us, so, it is vitally useful to design such a system that can extract and collect water from the atmosphere. The technology that we have used works on vapor compression cycle (VCC) principle. It generates water from atmospheric air with the help of condensation process under the given environmental conditions. This project will be very helpful in all those areas where ground water is not accessible. The aim of this project is to design and develop an air water generator using VCC, which is capable of delivering 300cc per hour of water at relative humidity of 45% from ambient. Secondly, solar energy source is used to meet the energy demands of the system and making it a cost effective and environment friendly technology. In the end, a filtration system is integrated with the AWG, to make water clean and drinkableItem Implementation of lean in footwear industry(UMT, Lahore, 2021) Shazam Burhan and Muhammad AbdullahIn the recent era, many industrial sectors are facing fierce competition & challenges due to highly dynamic and continuously changing customer demands. Also the current competitive market requires high production rate along with the cheapest price and high level of quality in order to meet the customer requirement effectively. To compete these challenges, organizations are consistently working to enhance productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of their work procedures to be the part of race. Lean methodology has proved itself as a tool that could provide an effective strategy for eliminating waste through continuous improvement. Hence use of lean production is becoming a main proficiency for organizations to exceed expectations and sustain. Now a days, organizational culture is not conductive for the sustainable implementation of modern tools like lean manufacturing strategy. Therefore, Employees’ involvement has been concluded as leading barrier towards lean implementation. This project follows various lean tools such as Fish Bone diagram, Root Cause analysis, Kaizen, Value Stream mapping, Layout improvement strategy through active participation of stakeholders especially employees and management for the school shoe assembly line. Participatory based lean approach is used to validate its performance. It has been successfully proved that after implementation of the suggested interventions the employee's involvement technique is a better option to start with the implementation of lean production. Also the results predicted that, with the involvement of workers, efficiency enhances up to 3% and quality defect rate is reduced. However, employees’ engagement brings many changes where continuous support from management and employees’ motivation towards their jobs are key ingredients. Findings of this project are proving opportunities to the practitioners and mangers on how lean implementation can be done successfullyItem Inventory management system of departmental store(UMT, Lahore, 2021) Kinza Ansari and Faiqa MaryamInventory management system is a major concern of any firm, either manufacturer or retailer. This report explained research that was conducted in a superstore in order to analyze their inventory management system. The methodology is divided among two phases, one is concerned with process improvement in inventory management system and the other is concerned to develop an optimize stock level in order to minimize the inventory overstock and inventory shortage problems. The most selling products were sampled and the research was conducted by their data and documentation. To develop an optimized stock level, different forecasting methods were used as alterative approach and the most appropriate one was selected. Then, EOQ model is used to propose a suitable order quantity. Safety stock and reorder level is also designed to manage the demand and lead time fluctuations. This approach can be used by manufacturing firm, retailers, distributors and wholesalers. It will ensure the proper utilization of resources, labor and information system of a company. This approach will surely enhance the profit earned by a firm through reducing the cost incurred in inventory related activities at the same revenue.Item Theoretical and numerical audit of energy consumption in the existing building under the environmental condition of Pakistan(UMT, Lahore, 2021) Muhammad Hamza Nasir and HusnainThe energy audit of existing buildings in the Pakistani environment is presented in this document, both conceptually and statistically. The inspection and analysis of energy flow to save energy in buildings is known as an energy audit. It might be a system or a process. Reduce the amount of energy used by the system without impacting the output power. The goal of this study is to determine how much energy buildings use in order to reduce their energy usage. An energy audit's main goal is to figure out ways to cut energy usage per unit of power or operational costs. Collecting system data, evaluating energy use, designing energy-saving methods, selecting the most cost-effective plan, and making changes are all part of an energy audit. Furthermore, by repeating this process, active facilities continue to increase their energy efficiency. The relevant authority provided functioning drawings generated with AUTO CAD software, and an energy audit was started. The hourly analysis programmed (HAP) software is utilized to examine the building's energy use in this study article. Using commercial HAP software, the building was modeled in real-world settings. HAP is a two in-one tool: first, it evaluates loads and designs systems; second, it models energy consumption of buildings and calculates energy costs; heat load calculation uses energy .The balancing technique does theoretical calculations, whereas HAP software performs numerical calculations. In the standard existing building design, the overall thermal load was computed theoretically at 46.72 tones and numerically at 44.90 tones. The thermal load calculations obtained using both approaches were found to be in good agreement.
