Item Analyzing the Relationship between Project Success and Critical Success Factors An Empirical Investigation for USAID Funded International Development Projects in Pakistan(University of Management & Technology, 2018) Ishaq Bin ZaighumThis study follows the updated framework of project success considering project sustainability, long term impact and stakeholders satisfaction in addition to traditional parameters of time, cost and scope. Instead of following a life-cycle based approach, the critical success factors pertaining to implementing organizations have been taken to study their relationship with the project success. These factors include availability of project funding, trainings of staff, clearly defined objectives, involvement of beneficiaries in decision making, communications with staff and provision of security to staff. A questionnaire adapted from the available literature on international development projects is administered to collect responses from development professionals who have worked in USAID funded international development projects in Pakistan. The respondents include managers, specialists, component leads, officers and associates. The goals and objectivesof the company and its department as revised under the light of these changes. This project assisted company on the 1st phase of the project in designing performance appraisal. Performance Appraisalprocess needs more emphasis and a proactive approach while managing the performance. Clear job descriptions of employees would make employees accountable performance and responsibilities, the JDs of employees would help managers to evaluate the performance in a better way. Documents were studied in details and a few un-structured interviews were conducted from employees of HR department to update JDs according to the updated task and create performance appraisal accordingly. The secondary research found number of gaps in JDs which required concentration in order to ensure that the employer needs valuable resources and retains employees make significant differences in the success of company. Therefore, new JDs and PA were proposed. Qualitative research is conducted by using sample of three respondents by having semi-structured interviews. Qualitative software NVIVO 9 is used for data analysis, by analyzing the models and reports understanding of the job mapping process is made clearer. The discussion shows the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the project, where there is more influence of qualitative research. Case study approach is used to investigate the phenomena of job mapping activity (Yin). The existing system is manual system through which organization is currently dealing with clients manually. Which brings a huge workload on the organization. Now we reduce the work load and explanation of the business system will be helpful. It is very difficult to capture market gap because customer have no time to go market and buy auto parts. In existing system difficult to maintain parts and accuracy. In existing system all records maintain manually and this process taking huge time that is why we develop this system and cover the market gap. In this system we provide both customer and vendors platform. Customers can order any auto parts and accessories at any time any place our system save customer time and provide many other facilities. Customer is a non-technical person they have no idea which auto part is original made by company or not but our system provide guarantee to the customer. Vendor using our system as a retailer person and generate a revenue. While using our system customer can order before check parts detail and fair price as compare to market and take this opportunity to deliver auto parts at your place and payment only on delivery time.Item Bridging the gap between academia and industry through a training and market research center(University of Management and Technology Lahore, 2016) Arooj Talat Khan; Ishrat Noor; Sidra Hassan; Sheharbano Hussain; Shazia IqbalFrom the past understandings and experiences, many corporations found it difficult to retain people with the accurate skill set, this encouraged them to look for joint ventures with the universities. To Bridge this Gap, we made it feasible the correlation between industry and academia through the implementation of Centre of Industry and Market Studies (CIMS). It is one of our efforts to assemble the industry's changing demands. It will get both students and faculty members involved. In this project CIMS, we will focus on creating industry based training materials and create a center of attention for both students and professionals to take part in the training on their timetable and schedule. For conducting the initial research, we have adopted both the qualitative (in the form of unstructured interviews). This center will be inaugurated at University of Management and Technology. The training can be updated and further added as the most up-to-date technologies trends. (CIMS) aims at constructing universities and industry work collectively and build simple trust through long-term bond such as task- based collaboration. This center provides trainings, certifications, diplomas and sectoral reports for the industries. But this fact is merely a dream in developing countries like Pakistan. In Pakistan, our preferences are something far different than those of any developed and civilized country people have. We do have large gaps in communities, poor are so poorer and rich community is so rich and there are lesser mediocre. The reason behind the sustained poverty level is unaffordability of good education, elite class prefers to go abroad for studies, and the only left community that prefers to get education in the country is of mediocre, who any how manages to bear the cost of higher education in the country. In Pakistan, higher education is too expensive for everyone to bear. And the institutes that are already performing well in the education market, in both government and private sector, are tough to compete. In this situation, planning a new campus of SPA-UMT is not just a challenge but an excellent opportunity for us to show our professional managerial talent. This project was assigned to us from the department to propose to a business plan for new sub campus of SPA-UMT. We started this project with the industry analysis in which through different analysis we need to figure out the about the favorability of industry with investment point of view. From the industry analysis we have figured that industry is favorable. Then our second phase was gap analysis to identify that is there a gap which needs to be filled? And to tap the untapped market. We have done strategic group analysis; locational strategy and competitive analysis to check about the competitiveness and which strategy should be adopt to enter into the market if the gap exists. Then our phase was to identify the customer preferences for which we have collected the data through questioner survey of desired specific locations. Our target unit was professional which has fourteen or sixteen years of education and wants to get professional degree to excel in careers further. Residents of DHA/Gulberg/Cavalry were offered to fill the questioners and from those filled questioners we have concluded that it will be a healthy decision to develop a new SPA-UMT branch in DHA because the gap was available, target audience was available and acceptance of services is also available. A thorough literature survey has also been carried in this regard including, PEST analysis, SWOT analysis, Competitive analysis, critical success factor analysis, value chain analysis, IEE & IFE matrix analysis and porter’s five factor analysis. Results of questioner analysis are discussed in detail, which showed an overall positive response of vicinity residents for UMT sub-campus development in DHA. To check the validation of we have also developed the feasibility report to check that either it will be feasible or not in business point of view. Income statement, balance sheet and other reports are developed on real time information regarding all types of costs and human resources calculation to develop the best possible projections. IRR (Internal Rate of Return) and PBR (Pay Back Period) is also calculated to check the validation of this project. In proposed feasibility report both 8 Marla cut and 4 Marla cut calculations are available. Bring this project into reality we need approximately 20 million in hand. The complete market plan is developed which is covering and proposing the best possible strategies to capture the market and maintain the sustainability. All the seven P’s are covered according to our product service offerings, how we will put our services and which will be the facilities we will be providing to our potential prospect. We offered a solution that is not only cater the needs of buyers to find the perfect car but also the sellers by helping them to reach the relevant and potential audience. Unlike other similar platforms out there, our system provides car dealers a proper dashboard to display their cars. Buyers on the other hand are able to browse through the displayed cars easily and contact the respective seller based on choice. This system enables the direct contact between the sellers (showroom owners) and buyers (customers), buyers can now be able to find the specific car they are looking for without the hassle of actually visiting the market. Since the platform is free for every user, a healthy user-base (both sellers and buyers) are expected to use the service.
