Item Self-identity of career oriented Pakistani women(UMT, Lahore, 2016) Kashmala Amin KhanThis study explores the self-identity of career oriented women of Pakistan within its cultural context. Qualitative research design was employed using the Interpretative Phenomenological Approach (IPA) to obtain data from a sample of five career oriented women of Pakistan between the ages of 40 to 55. The data was obtained in the form of narratives pertaining to these women’s work related professional and personal experiences and as story tellers of their lives the women were addressed as autobiographers instead of participants. The narrative analysis of all interviews from the autobiographers revealed significant themes and it was found that the self-identity of career oriented women could be categories into: i). Strong sense of empowerment, ii). Traditional (reserved) sense of empowerment and iii). Weak sense of empowerment.Item Music preferences and flourish in university students(UMT, Lahore, 2020) Neelam AfzalThe study aimed to examined the relationship between music preferences and flourish in university students. It was hypothesized that there is likely to be a relationship between Music Preference and Flourish in University students and Gender will moderate the relationship between Music Preference and Flourish in University Students. Correlational Research Design was used. We took the sample of 170 students (men = 85 women =85), Age range 18-28 (M = 21.93. SD =2.53,) The sample was drawn by using Non-probability Purposive sampling technique. For Music Preference we used (STOMP) by Rentfrow and Gosling, and for Flourish we use PERMA profiler test scale (PERMA) by Butler and Kern. The result was analyzed by using Pearson product moment correlation. Pearson product moment correlation analysis showed that reflective and complex music was found to be significantly positively correlated with flourish, engagement meaning and accomplishment. Intense and Rebellious music, Upbeat and Conventional music, Energetic and rhythmic were found to be significantly positively associated with flourish. While intense and rebellious was found to be significantly negatively associated with positive emotions. Moderation analysis showed that nature of relationship between intense and rebellious music and flourish becomes negatively strengthen for men as compare to women. Most of the genres has positive and healthy impact on the mental health of the individuals. While few of them like rock and mental had negative impact on the overall being. Moreover, the moderating role of gender was also showed that men, who listen to intense and rebellious music had low level flourish and wellbeing as compare to women.Item Trolling, self-concept, interpersonal difficulties, and coping in university students(UMT, Lahore, 2022) Neelam AfzalThe aim of present research was to investigate the relationship among trolling, self concept, interpersonal difficulties and coping in university students. Mixed methods research design was used. This study was conducted in two phases. In Phase I, 30 women were approached and In- depth interviews were taken, written and transcribed. Items were collated and validated by experts. Effect of trolling scale was developed and psychometric properties were established. Factor analyses revealed three factors named social withdrawal, loneliness and low- mood. In phase II, 100 participants with the age range of 18-25 years (M, 20.74 SD, 1.85) were given self-concept scale (Hussain & Rizvi, 2016), interpersonal difficulty scale (Saleem et al., 2014). and coping scale for university students (Irshad et al., 2012). Result suggest that there is negative relationship among trolling, positive self- concept and solution-focused coping and positive relationship among effect of trolling negative self-concept, interpersonal difficulties, emotion-focused coping and spiritual coping. The results were discussed in the light of cultural factor and implication for counselling services.
