Impact of Project Governance on Project Success under the Mediating Role of Stakeholder Management
    (umt.lahore, 2025) ABDUL REHMAN AKBAR
Project managers are under increasing pressure to show funding agencies why their projects are valuable. However, most programs lack a strong mechanism to realize this strategic value. Although it is recognized in the literature that project governance is essential to facilitate the realization of benefits, there is little empirical data in this area of research. Impact of project governance on project success under the mediating role of stakeholder management.
(UMT Lahore, 2024) ABDUL REHMAN AKBAR
Project managers are under increasing pressure to show funding agencies why their projects are valuable. However, most programs lack a strong mechanism to realize this strategic value. Although it is recognized in the literature that project governance is essential to facilitate the realization of benefits, there is little empirical data in this area of research. In light of this, this study explores the links between successful project governance, benefits management, and project outcomes. A scale to assess good project governance was modified and validated using information from earlier studies. The results of the study show that good project governance improves project success through stakeholder engagement, empowerment and involvement, and direct improvement of risk control. The best stakeholder management and project governance techniques were also discovered to improve project success. Some examples of these techniques include creating and maintaining a great business case for a project. The resulting model lays the foundation for a theory that explains how effective project governance can improve project success and achieve strategic goals by integrating stakeholder management processes into the project process. This study examines the relationship between project governance and project success from the perspectives of agency theory and stakeholder theory. In order to do this, project governance is operationalized as follows: a) the ratio of shareholder management to stakeholder management in different projects in different industries. A nationwide cross-sectional online survey produced 253 valid responses. Regression and factor studies have shown that there is a correlation between the project governance model of the parent company that manages the project and the success of the project. The results of the study confirm the importance of stakeholder management and project governance for the successful completion of the project. This study experimentally examines the impact of project governance on project performance, both directly and through the mediating effects of stakeholder engagement, empowerment, and risk management. The results of the study were obtained using responses from Process Macro and SPSS, as well as the Pakistan project. This study finds that project governance has a significant positive impact on project success, both directly and through the mediating effects of stakeholder engagement, intervention, empowerment and risk control. The results of the study will help developing country companies, as well as Pakistani companies, to monitor projects in various sectors and social sectors through effective project governance and stakeholder management, thereby improving project performance.
