Item Stylistic analysis of criminal first information reports in pakistan under forensic approach(UMT.Lahore, 2023) Adeena YaqoobForensic Linguistics is a relatively new field that links forensic and linguistic principles and inspects the evidence related to language in the context of legal language. Forensic linguistics is a branch of applied linguistics and it deals with a variety of topics i.e. stylistic analysis, discourse, critical discourse analysis, phonetics, morphology, graphology, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and sociology. The purpose of this study is to explore the stylistic applications of Criminal first information reports under the lens of forensic linguistics. The objectives of this study focus on Short and Leech framework which includes: phonological, grammatical, graphological, and lexical levels of stylistic analysis which will be used to identify how language is used for evidential purposes and to record criminal reports. This study utilizes a quantitative approach to FIR corpus collected from various police stations in districts of Pakistan. The findings of this study have crucial connotations for the areas of Pakistan’s criminal justice system as well as forensic linguistics. By comprehending the linguistics and stylistic patterns in First Information Reports, legal practitioners and prosecutors can amplify their perception of the fabrication and precision of investigations, identify unpredictability, and the provided information. Incorporating a framework will help in this study in terms of decision making, develop FIR authenticity, and evaluate witness testimony in criminal trials. The findings of this study may improve the efficacy and efficiency of criminal cases and investigations, help in suspect identification, and support Pakistan’s criminal justice system’s fairness and integrity.
