Item Dental image, oral health beliefs and oral health related quality of life in adults who seeking orthodontic treatment(UMT Lahore, 2021) MAMOONA AFZALCurrent study aims to investigate the relationship between dental image, oral health beliefs and oral health related quality of life in adults who are seeking orthodontic treatment. It was hypothesized that there is likely to be a positive relationship among dental image, oral health beliefs and oral health related quality of life in adults. It was also hypothesized that there is likely to be a relationship between dental image and oral health beliefs in adults. Furthermore, it was hypothesized that dental image and oral health beliefs will be the predictor of oral health related quality of life in adults who are seeking Orthodontic treatment. Correlational research design was used in present study. A sample consisting of (N=106; Male=49, Female=57) adults,selected by using purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through Psychosocial Impact of Dental aesthetic (PIDAQ; Clauset al., 2006), Oral Health Beliefs(Nakazonoet al., 1997)and Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14; Spencer & Slade, 1994) to measure dental image, oral health beliefs, and oral health related quality of life, respectively. The scales were translated into Urdu language; therefore Factor analysis was carried out for verifying the number of factors in the translated scales identified in Pakistani society. Results of the present study revealed a significant positive relationship between dental image and oral health related quality of life but no significant relationship was found between oral health beliefs and oral health related quality of life. Similarly, results revealed no significant relationship between dental image and oral health beliefs in adults. Furthermore, results revealed that dental self-confidence, social impact, aesthetic concern and benefit of preventive practices werefound a significant predictor of oral health related quality of life in adults.Application for mediation analysis was not fulfilled because of sample xiv size.Findings of present study can be implied in educational and professional setting. The findings are discussed with reference to relevant literature.Findings can creative awareness among people who having orthodontic problem that can improve their quality of life by having orthodontic treatment.
