Item To evaluate the influence of repeatability and reproducibility on the overall process variations by using the measurement system analysis(UMT, Lahore, 2015) Zaghum Shafqat Chahal, Zeeshan Aslam, Mir Arsalan Ali and Raheel Mustafa GhummanIn manufacturing industries, where parts/products are manufactured, variation is observed from time to time in the parts manufactured. Sometimes these variations are caused due to faults n the measurement system, For making decisions regarding the processes, actual facts and data are required and we need to know where the variations origin from. For this we use the Measuring System Analysis to find out the contribution accuracy errors (biasness and linearity) and precision errors (repeatability and reproducibility) make and their impact on the overall process variation. This research thesis is conducted in an automobile industry which manufactures (and assemble at some points) parts and engines for mainly tractors. The company was receiving complaints for engine transmission parts not meeting the requirements although the company quality records showed that all part were inspected to be ok. This lead to the question of variance arising due to measurement system hence MSA was implied. After conducting the ‘Measurement System Analysis,’ it was unearthed that the company had negligible accuracy issues (as the instruments were recently calibrated) and precision issues (repeatability and reproducibility) contributed majorly to the overall process variance. The reason for these errors was the skills of operators, lack of training, standardized methods and absence of fixtures.
