Item FACTORS AFFECTING AND HINDERING WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT IN EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES A PAKISTANI CONTEXT(UMT, Lahore, 2024) ALIZEH KHANThis thesis addressed the ongoing discussion of gender differences in the workplace by analyzing the reasons why women's economic activity is evaluated as being more marginal than men's and why the employment of women is so concentrated in low-wage, low-skilled positions. The research has examined the link between women paid and unpaid work and how the family structure and familial ideology discredit the critical importance of paid employment for both women and their families. In contrast, the structure of the labor process frequently undervalues the actual skills that women possess. Many diverse perspectives have been brought forward when discussing women's employment. The benefits of hiring women and their impact on the economy are emphasized by economists. Their writings highlight the importance of women as a sizable pool of potential workers, highlight the issues that come from the disorganized nature of the female labor market, and talk about the impact of women's entry into the workforce on male employment. Humanitarian perspectives have been used in the writing of other books. These make an effort to illustrate specific working situations faced by women that demand a fix. They debate issues including working hours, hygienic conditions, pay scales, and other issues in an interesting social reform and legislative action. The argument concludes that while women are employed as cheap labor and while it is supported by men's claim to pay commensurate with being a breadwinner, women's paid employment remains differentiated and marginalized. The family's sexual division of labor plays a role in the perception of women as inexpensive labor. However, because of the wage structure's unequal pay, such familial ties are maintained
