Item Masculinity and Violence in Pakistan(UMT.Lahore, 2023) Ayesha ArshadThe complexities of masculinity and its role in shaping societal attitudes, behaviors, and practices lead to the contribution of gender-based violence. By keeping this in view, this research aims to explore the relationship between traditional masculine norms and gender-based violence in Pakistan. A qualitative approach has been used to find out the experience of victims of gender based violence about traditional masculinity and its impact on gender-based violence. The experience of men from different fields of life and socio-economic status is also included in this study to reveal their understanding of traditional masculinity and gender-based violence. The addition of men’s perspective in this research has given a chance to explore the thinking of the perpetuator gender. It examines how the societal expectations of male dominance, aggression, and control intersect with gender-based violence, contributing to the perpetuation of harmful norms and the subordination of women. A multifaceted approach consisting of individual, social, and governmental efforts has been recommended to challenge the traditional masculine norms contributing to gender-based violence.
