Impact of instagram on psychological well-being and body image of female university student

This research study aimed to understand the impact of Instagram usage on the psychological well-being and body image of female university students. In this research study quantitative method has been used for data collection, for this purpose questionnaire was formulated containing approximately 18 questions starting from general to specific. A sample of 150 female university students was be selected through convenience sampling from University of Management & Technology. Sample was equally divided among three academic programs offered in UMT, that is BS, MA/MA and MPhil. Cultivation Theory was employed to provide theoretical framework for better understanding. Findings suggested that use of Instagram imposed serious psychological issues in female university students and increased dissatisfaction among the female students regarding their own bodies. Findings further suggested that the impact of instagram was higher and more serious among those who spend more time on Instagram.
