Item Perception of students about quality of teaching and learning at higher level of education(UMT.Lahore, 2018) AFSHI RIAZThis study was designed to investigate the perception of students about quality of teaching and learning at higher level of education in Pakistan. The debate about quality of teaching and learning has got universal attention in every educational institute. This study was carried out in continuation of tradition and explored perception of students about quality of teaching and learning in higher educational institute of Lahore. This study was based on quantitative research. The empirical data was gathered from graduate and undergraduate students of the respective universities. Three universities, two public and one private were conveniently selected to conduct the study. Five hundred students were conveniently selected who were enrolled in different programs of these universities. Both male and female students from different semesters were the part of the sample of the study. Researcher developed the instrument after extensive literature review about quality of teaching and learning. The reliability of the tool was .947. The instrument was comprised of two subscales: Quality of teaching (QOT) and quality of learning (QOL). The study was descriptive and quantitative in nature. The collected data was analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21by using both descriptive and inferential statistics (Means, t-test ,ANOVA and Post Hoc). Students rated high that the course expectations were made clear by teacher and that their teachers use plenty of examples to help them to understand the things during their teaching. Whereas they rated low that their teachers give detailed feedback on their work and did not guide and advise when they needed. Furthermore the students enrolled in public and private universities had similar perceptions about quality of teaching and learning and the students enrolled in different program had different perceptions about quality of teaching and learning.
