How much ai'c the students capable'.' What is their positi(.)n in the job market'.' How
far can the\ go'.' I hese are the questions that ettme in the minds of the pet)ple otitside
11..\I. who are planning to get admission in an> business institute but aie not able to
make a llnal choice. .Mso. we need to see whether the placement department. PD&P.
of l l .M is lunetioning well oi" not. \\ e need to see what \ alue has it de\eloped lor the
uradtiates in the corporate world. In order to set criteria for the department, the
placement departments of l"i\e international institutions ha\e been sttidied. 1 he
lunetions ol" those departments and their o\erall performance ha\e been compared
with that of the PD&P Dept.. II.N4. But it is to be considered that the PD&P Dept. is
not alone in the placements ol the students. I he graduates are not placed only because
of this department. I'he role of the faeult_\ members is \ ery importtint in this regard.
1 he\ are the ones who recognize the talents of the students and polish them. 1 he\ are
the ones who are at the position to guide the students about their luture choices,
regtirding their majors. Also, the companies that are not hiring ll.M graeUiates on their
own ha\e been studied. It is not the ease that the ILM graduates are not working in
those orgiini/.ations. But they ha\e been selected on the basis ol theii" e)wn abilities
and skills, d'he companies have not approached ILM after that. What is the reason
behind thtif.' \\ hat htis been the performance of ll.M graduates'.^ W hat imtige ha\e
the\ dcweloped about Ilmians in those organizations'.' All these qLiestit)ns ha\e been
taken into consideration while making this report. At the end. recommendations are
given to the PD&P Dept. and ILM for improving the department and the qualit\ ol
uradiiates that ll.M is producing. Dt)ing internship at any organiztilion is the first
e.xposLire of a person with the eorportile world. In this context, one needs to dexelop
good communication skills as well as learn to manage tasks and work tinder stress.
Conducting sur\e\s about ILM and getting feedback from the Ahimni wil l help in
analxzing the market position ol IL.M.
