This research critically examines the recent Afghan conundrum in the context of US policy from war to peace in Afghanistan. Why the US-led alliance is compelled by the situation to make a political settlement through peaceful means? Moreover, it addresses the role of Pakistan in the war on terror to the peace process through convergence and divergence of US interests toward Pakistan, especially from an Afghanistan perspective. And shows itself as a responsible neighbor state by engaging the US and Taliban, and other stakeholders.
