Over the last decade many accidents have largely occurred due to various factors including driver's distraction, loud music, use of cell phone during driving, drowsiness, mood swings, over excitement, violation of traffic rules and especially over speeding. This conundrum has increased the importance of monitoring traffic using different fields of science. One of these techniques include speed estimation using vision techniques that has gained a lot of popularity in monitoring and reducing traffic related problems especially in urban areas. This project discusses different methods including imaginary lines used for object detection to estimate speed of the moving vehicle. The result section shows that imaginary lines with object detection approach outperform the other approaches.en_US
