Abstract
The basic purpose of this work is to find out the type of pavement which would give good serviceability, useful life, provide comfort for users, long useful life and would also be more cost effective in this section (Lahore-okara) of highway N5. First of all find out the problems associated with and field investigations are carried out at various stages to control the quality in the construction. Samples of soil are collected from site for experimental purposes and performed all experiments in laboratory for the design of flexible and rigid pavement. Traffic loads are also calculated for the design of pavement as a rigid or flexible. After comparing the results of these experiments, deign the flexible and rigid pavement. First of all design the flexible pavement and rigid pavement and then perform a comparison of flexible and rigid pavement keeping in view the available equipment, amount of materials and available binding materials. Finally, an estimated cost comparison of flexible and rigid pavement is made by determining the per km cost of the project.
