Abstract
Thesis measured the impact of earn value management on project success, and
considered the project complexity as moderating variable. Thesis also explored the
components of earned value management and studied its individual impact on project
success with and without moderation to precisely measure the earn value management.
Thesis adopted strategy of quantitative explanatory methodology to conduct research
and collected responses from questionnaire distributed among civil engineers in Lahore
region based on purposive sampling. The results were analyzed on IBM SPSS tool.
Analysis concluded that EVM has significant positive impact towards project success
and project complexity negatively moderates the project success, but more complex
projects focus effectively on the EVM and its attributes explored (Risk Identification
and Response Planning, pre-construction planning, Effective communication, Effective
scheduling and cost management), this ultimately enhances the success rate of project.
Results indicate that project complexity has overall negative impact on project success
but if we continuously monitor and control the attributed explored in thesis research
can help civil engineers and project managers achieve project success. Each attribute
of EVM identified in research proved to have significant positive impact on project
success. Thesis has made significant addition to literature and industry engineers by
exploring those critical attributes that impact project success for complex projects and
considering those attributes and closely monitoring them will increase the chances to
achieve project success.
