Abstract
This research paper aims to identify the actual role of central government and provincial government in building up sustainable tourism, effective policies, and repercussions of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on the disputed region, both the positive and negative perspective. Whether the projects are well executed or not, But, the disputed resolutions create hurdles towards development in the region. Tourism is the one of sustainable Industries with the highest rate of growth while providing various employment opportunities for a portion of the Gilgit-Baltistan population, particularly for youth and marginalized women. As a result, this helps in reducing poverty and improves the standard of living. Despite its enormous tourist potential, Gilgit-Baltistan's tourism sector has been ignored by the Government of Pakistan (GOP), due to the disputed status of the region. By creating appropriate tourist policies and regulations: the tourism sector may bring revolutionary improvements to the lives of local communities. Furthermore, this research also stipulates basic and valuable tourism knowledge from literature which includes the importance of tourism, the potential of tourism development in the region, and highlights various barriers for tourism development of the region. The research is of qualitative nature. I have conducted an online survey that includes open-ended questions with proper sampling. Finally, this study suggests that continuous monitoring of consequences is required, as well as any necessary corrective actions, to reap the full advantages of tourism for the longest possible time.
