| dc.description.abstract | Interest in game-based approaches for raising learning effectiveness has therefore brought to light the roots of the concept in health care systems. When applied to first aid, gamification can provide a fun approach to teach people essential skills for saving lives. Current trends in providing first aid training may not be as interactive, and the knowledge that the students acquire does not remain with them for very long. New strategies must be employed to address these shortcomings and improve the level of first aid training. The primary objective of this work is to develop, implement, and evaluate a game-based healthcare system that offers an engaging and effective way to learn first aid. The goal is to increase motivation, the amount of knowledge retained, as well as the practical use of first aid skills introduced through the use of game elements in the learning process. The research involves both quantitative data on the learning outcomes and qualitative responses from the users. To enhance the accuracy, applicability, and effectiveness of the game-based healthcare system, game designers, educators, and healthcare experts collaborate throughout the game development process. When comparing the preliminary results to the traditional approaches used in first aid training, we see an increase in user engagement and information acquisition. In one study, participants who went through the game-based system said they were more motivated to apply their first aid knowledge in live practice. The study therefore holds that integrating fun in first aid training programs in healthcare systems can improve the satisfaction and the effectiveness of the learning outcomes. | |
