| dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines the role of Hindu nationalism (Hindutva) in India and how India is transformed from a secular nation into a Hindu religious nation. The significance of this research is that how religious nationalism is a threat for minorities especially Muslims. It will also examine the evolution of Hindutva ideology which took place in Indian society and will take into account the recent government of Narendra Modi as a supporter of Hindutva. Furthermore, the research will make use of qualitative content analysis to evaluate the reason behind inter religious conflicts. This study will also examine how Hindutva is associated with Hinduism and has antagonistic behavior towards other minorities especially Muslims. In addition to that this research will also focus upon the implications of adopting Hindutva policies upon Muslims, using the lens of social constructivism. | |
