Abstract
Now a day’s air pollution due to industries is becoming major environmental problem in Pakistan. A countries’ economic growth mainly depends on its industrial sector. But this rapid increase in industrialization is deteriorating environment by depletion of natural resources and energy consumption. With the increase in energy consumption, emission of greenhouse gases (PM, CO, NOx and SOx etc) has also increased and is negatively effecting the environment and human health. And unfortunately there are no proper air emission control strategies for industries which are one of the major reasons of increase in air pollution. This study is about different factors of cement industry that have negative effects on environment. These factors are categorized into air pollution (energy source, unimplemented laws and policies for air pollutants, planned maintenance) and human health issues related to Pakistan Cement Industry (taken as case study). The pollution issues in an organization can be resolved by implementing laws and regulations in each area. Study depicted that in Pakistan, industries do not work significantly to reduce hazardous emissions and also there are mostly managerial defects in controlling industry’s pollution. Effort is being put in search out the gaps between laws present for the above mentioned factors, those which are implemented and how they can be made better.
