Abstract
Various measures and techniques have been developed to meet the problems of delayed justice in murder trial cases by the Government of Pakistan, by Law commissions. Committees and leL,al scholars, unfortunately the desired results have not been achieved. This study was conducted to investigate the reasons of delays inside the courts in murder trials under the law of Pakistan. The study was descriptive in nature. There was one research objective of the study to investigate the reasons of delays inside the courts in murder trials under the law of Pakistan with three research questions. Population of the study was comprised of all judges and advocates of Session Court, High Court and Supreme Court of Lahore. The researcher adopted "simple random sampling technique, to selecf'lOO advocates and judges from three type of courts, (section court. High court. Supreme Court). The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire that was self constructed with the reliability of .775, Questionnaires were tested first through pilot testing for improvement. The data were analyzed by using SPSS software followed by descriptive and inferential statistics in which t-test, ANOVA, were used on all the research questions. One of the finding was There was no significant difference measured in male and females opinion in the role of advocates in delays of murder trials inside the court under the law of Pakistan. This study further suggests other research work. There are practical implications of the findings of this research for policy makers, advocates and judges for the improvement of delays in murder trials.
