Abstract
Special needs students are continually facing many challenges in different areas of their lives especially at higher educational level. The quality, quantity, and scope of university-based support services have not expanded sufficiently. Also, there is a severe dearth of research and instruments designed to measure the needs and satisfaction with services received by students with special needs. The purpose of this study was to explore the perspectives of university staff toward support services to students with special needs in the public and the private universities of Lahore. This study was plan to identify either the administrative and support staff in institution of higher education were providing needed support services to students with special needs or not. The qualitative method was used as case study design to collect data from 10 participants. The thematic analysis was done that helped to understand university staff’s perceptions and experiences related to services or facilities to special need students. Major theme identified include understanding the concept of disability, services available for students, faculty members’ practices and need for a specified support centre. Recommendations were derived for higher education in Lahore.
