dc.description.abstractThis thesis focuses on the famous novel The Silent Patient by 20 th century British-Cypriot author Alex Michaelides highlighting its representation of silence and a woman’s act of violence against her own husband. The Silent Patient seems to repeat the actual psychoanalysis theory specifically Professor Franz Rupert’s trauma theory. The focal point of this paper is to study the primary viewpoints of why people reduce to violence and when situation gets nasty and ugly they become silent as revealed in the novel. The work mainly emphasizes on the struggle and Alicia’s traumatic experience of silence which she faced during her period in which she chose to remain silent. This research explores the subject of Psychoanalysis concept through the theme of a woman’s act of violence against her own husband and a young therapist who is obsessed with uncovering her motive.
