Textbooks are the main anchors of the instructional process in Pakistani schools. The quality of education being provided in the schools is directly dependent upon the quality of prescribed textbooks. This study was aimed at determining the quality and suitability of Chemistry textbook for 9th and 10th class. To tultill this requirement data was collected through questionnaire prepared for students and teachers. Thirty (30) teachers and one hundred (100) students were requested to record their views on the questionnaires of this study. The views were tabulated and results were concluded in percentage terms. The study revealed that the contents are helpful to understand the nature and structure of chemistry, but provide little help to students to observe safety rules in the laboratory. The contents do not reflect modern chemistry. Role of chemistry in the society is not well presented in the book. Tables present useful data, diagrams given in the book are clear and helpful for understanding the subject. The experiments given in the book do not develop creative thinking.
