Abstract
This study designs and simulates an energy-efficient residential distribution system. It keeps the ac supply constant and locally presents dc loads through ac to dc converters. A 24-hour household load profile drives all analyses. It starts with one house then moves on to a small neighbourhood. Transformer sizing and feeder planning are included. MATLAB Simulink shows standard blocks with personal settings. The setup mimics realistic operation under a changing demand. Outcomes indicate less conversion losses than that of a pure AC system. End-use efficiency increases during light and peak periods. Performance more closely tracks real-world device behavior. Sensitivity tests confirm strong benefits at load levels. The workflow provides clear steps that others can reuse. With this approach, hybrid AC-DC can practically be adopted at the home level. The results assist in developing a smarter and sustainable residential grid.
