dc.description.abstractThe present study intended to examine Fear of missing out, Phubbing and Psychological distress among university students. It was hypothesize that there is a significant relationship between phubbing, FOMO and psychological distress for university students. It was also hypothesize that phubbing and FOMO are likely to predict psychological distress in university students. Correlation research design and convenient sampling strategy were used in the current study. The sample was comprised of 260 University students, with the age range of 20 -27 years. Fear of Missing out Scale. The Generic Scale of Phubbing and Psychological Distress Scale were used to assess the study variables. Pearson product moment correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze data. The result indicated that there is no correlation between fear of missing out and psychological distress among university students. Furthermore, results showed that Phubbing is significantly correlated with psychological distress among university students. Results also showed that FOMO is not the predictor of psychological distress among university students. Whereas, the present study revealed that pubbing is a strong predictor of psychological distress among university students. The study used in educational institutions to create awareness regarding adolescents’ behaviour of being dependent on social media.
