Though there is still a great deal of variance in the ways that gender equality is understood or experienced, gender equality may be found in fashion and textile design in many different forms. The lack of gender diversity in the fashion business has long been a source of criticism, especially when it comes to the percentage of women in positions of leadership and creativity. Despite these advancements, women still encounter more obstacles than males to obtaining significant careers. However, there may be more equal representation in the sector because textile design frequently calls for technical abilities that both men and women can acquire. Fashion designers frequently create collections that are gender-specific, with distinct looks for men and women. Stereotypes are reinforced and artistic expression is hampered as a result.
