This research work includes green synthesis of Magnesium oxide nanoparticles by using Alstonia scholaris, which is indigenous to many countries like China, Austrailia, Srilanka, Pakistan, India etc. It is a long lasting tree whose overlying offshoot contain cells having sponge like tissue. It is advantageous in the sense that wood is useful in pencil fabrication, making boxes for corpse as well as tools used in the house. The outermost portion of stem as well as root is used to deal with constantly recurring skitters as well as expelling disease causing organisms. Extract of the leaf is employed for thiamine disorder as well as against bacterial strain. Its pharmacological activities include antidiabetic, antioxidant, anticancer, analgesic, antitussive as well as antidiarrhoeal activities. Magnesium oxide nanoparticles were prepared by using leaf extract of Alstonia scholaris followed by characterization by XRD and SEM. The size of Magnesium oxide nanoparticles was 19.57 nm. XRD analysis confirmed crystallinity as well as purity of Magnesium oxide nanoparticles. Anti-inflammatory activity was carried out to observe inhibition of protein denaturation. Since IC50 of MgO nanoparticles was lower than standard so it was found more effective. Antioxidant activity was performed by employing two methods i.e., DPPH and Phosphomolybdenum. % Scavenging increased with increase of concentration. Comparison of IC50 of both standard Ascorbic acid and MgO nanoparticles showed that MgO nanoparticles undergo more scavenging of free radicals than standard. These MgO nanoparticles will be useful in cosmetics like scrub, moisturizer, an active ingredient of microdermabrasion as well as formulating effective drugs for maintaining protein structure of body which will reduce inflammation.
