The study aims to explore English language learning strategies in public and private schools at secondary level. It is hypothesized: a) There is relationship between public and private schools' ESL learners learning strategies, and b) Private sector school teachers have different language teaching strategies than public sector school teachers. A six Strategy Inventory Language Learning test (Oxford, 1990) was adapted to administer among 40 teachers between 25 to 35 years of age and 100 learners between 15 to 16 years of age from both public and private schools. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the public and private sector school teachers and learners in the use of English teaching and language learning strategies.
