Abstract
The primary purpose of the study was to acquaint the belief, opinion and perceptions of the History, Climate and Culture of the Cathedral School Hall Road Lahore, and to make recommendations for further improvement of the School. The scope of study was limited to Cathedral School Hall Road Lahore. The study was addressed on a brief history of the School, Management and Administrative System, Teaching Methodology, curriculum, Co-Curriculum Activities, Ways of Income and Expenditure, The Buildings of the School, Skill, Accomplishment, Gradation and Salary of Teachers, Conditions for Admission, Different Educational Programmes, Ways of Examinations, Facilities for Students and Teachers. The population of the study consisted of approximately 300 Students of Matric and Cambridge Classes, 65 Teachers and 14 numbers of Non-Teaching Staff. The total Sample Size consisted of 15 Teachers and 30 Students. Two Research Instruments, i.e., A close end questionnaire of 40 items filled in separately by the Principal, Teachers and Students and formal interviews and observations were taken from the staff members other than the Teachers. Qualitative techniques were to analyze the data. The information collected through questionnaire, interviews and documentary observations. Both statistical and descriptive techniques were used. The collected information was presented in the form of tables. In the item analysis it was concluded, (1) there are sufficient physical facilities for teachers and students, (2) there is an examination after every term, (3) Teachers give monthly test to the students, (4) Note books are checked by the teachers and then rechecked by the faculty head and Head of the department, (5) Audio Visual Aids are used during the lessons, (6) Principal, Vice Principal and Teachers take interest to solve the student's problems, (7) Every child is promoted in the next class after securing overall percentage of 50, (8) Teachers and Principal remain in contact with parents, (9) 11 Students and Teachers are appreciated on the good results, (10) Teachers cannot give Corporal Punishment to the students. In the light of the findings several concrete recommendations were made; Senior and experienced teachers should be selected for the Form Teachers and for the Head of the Department, (2) More foreign teachers should be employed for Senior Cambridge, (3) Efforts should be made to improve the Library for the needs of present age, (4) Professional education should also be included in the curriculum according to the student's interest so he may play an active role in his practical life, (5) Where it is possible science classes should be interlinked with the Internet and Research work should be done on these ancient educational institutions to get their experiences of their past golden age
