dc.description.abstractThe current study gender differences in psychosocial problems and self-esteem of school orphans in Lahore was focused on the psychosocial problems of orphans who studied in the mainstream school. To measure the psychosocial problems of the orphan the scale was developed for assessment of the psychosocial problem of the orphan. A 29 items were presented to the participant as self-report measure, Orphan Children Problem Scale (OCPS) along with the School Children Problem Scale (SCPS). Orphan child had the self-esteem issue to measure the self-esteem of the orphan child, the self-report measure Self-Esteem for School Children (SES) was used. The study was presented the psychosocial problems of the participants were from 12 to 18 years old (M=14.6, SD=1.6) and class 8th, 9th and 9th (100 Boys and 100 Girls). Factor analysis revealed three factors named as Lack of Social Support, Lack of Emotional Support and Lack of Interpersonal Support. In selected respondents, a purposive sampling technique and asimple random sampling was used. The cross sectional research design was used for the study.The main finding of the study revealed that from age 16 to 18 and class 9th and 10th faced more psychosocial problems. The result also revealed that there was no gender difference in the self-esteem as orphan. The counselling services should be provided by the school counselor with the cooperation with the parents and school management.en_US
