Abstract
In this research work, the concentration of Aluminum, Magnesium, Cobalt, Chromium, Zinc, Iron, and Manganese were determined in two antacids and four multivitamin formulations obtained from well-reputed manufacturing firms. Dijex and Muccaine were the suspensions while Revitale, V.H.V, OptiletM, and Vitamax were solid formulations that were analyzed. The assay was performed by using flame emission spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy. There are many sound reasons for this analysis: To determine the purity and to ensure the quality of pharmaceuticals formulations. The excess level of minerals in the drug may cause several problems to human health like teeth discoloration, gastrointestinal bleeding, cardiovascular diseases. This work was designed to ensure qualitative and quantitative analysis of given drugs. The analysis showed 93-97% agreement with sample claims for Aluminum and magnesium in dijex and 97-102% in mucaine. In multivitamins formulations all tablets showed good assay values except calcium in vitamax. The Cr and Mn in V.H.V tablets were not present. While iron was also not present in Optilet M and Vitamax. All calibrations showed good R2 values near up to 1
