Abstract
The research tends to explore the impact of language barriers on the social inclusion of undergraduate Kashmiri students in the private universities of Lahore. The information was gathered from Kashmiri-speaking migrated students enrolled in various degree programs at the higher education institutes in Lahore. This study used a mixed method research design. The questionnaire and in-depth interviewing tool were utilized to gather data for the study and record the students' experiences. SPSS and Thematic content analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result, the research focused on the data set's developing themes. The findings show that linguistic challenges include issues with pronunciation, semantics, and interference of cultural background, language incompetency and inadequate proficiency which persistently obstruct their ability to communicate and socialize in the target language (English). According to the results, challenges with social inclusion occur when the target language ability is low. According to the study's findings, social inclusion and linguistic proficiency are inter-related, as evidenced by the multilingual locations in Lahore. According to the study, social inclusion and multilingual or multicultural sites at the higher education institutions in Lahore are mediated by proficiency in the main language.
