    Synthesis of microgels and hybrid microgels and its catalytic activity

    The cross linked polymer particles were prepared by (N-isopropylmethacrylamide) free radical precipitation polymerization of N-isopropylmethacrylamide and in aqueous medium. After that bi-metallic nanoparticles of silver and cobalt were introduced into cross linked polymeric system by in situ reduction method. The Polymer microgels and hybrid microgel were characterized by, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and UV-Visible spectroscopic techniques. The hybrid microgel system was used as catalyst for degradation of methyl orange in presence of NaBH4. Effect of various parameters such as pH of the medium, concentration of NaBH4, concentration of catalyst and concentration of methyl orange on ratio of desardation was also studied at room temperature to explain the process of catalysis.
